Heard this on the news this morning... A resort called Summer Bay (condos I think) collapsed part of a building or two late last night

I saw that this morning! What a mess, I hope no one was hurt! No one really ever knows how big a sink hole is going to get, do they? I wonder what causes them. Besides unstable soil, I mean. What causes the soil to destabilize?

Hopefully everyone is alright. What's interesting is that Tower of Terror was going to be built over a sinkhole. Disney noticed this and they moved the planned building slightly before construction

Try not to think about the sinkhole in Epcot then. :D

The lake in front of the Odyssey restaurant apparently is a sinkhole, which is why that area is laid out weird.

If you take the walkway near test track to world showcase you will pass a closed establishment (it sometimes is used for character stuff I think) as well as a few bathrooms.

That's crazy! Hope everyone was o.k. Not long ago, a little boy was swallowed by a sink hole at the dunes, on Mt. Baldy! He did survive, thankfully.

Did you hear, they're going to bring seismologists and ground-penetrating radar (sonar? sound waves) to see what caused the cavity that sucked the kid in. It would be awesome if they figure that out, and can warn others if the danger exists elsewhere.

No, I hadn't heard that! Bdude and I wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that Mt Baldy is shifting?! That has been going on for a long time now. Hope they can figure it out!

What I heard this morning is speculation of a tree that got covered up, and had finally finished rotting. That seems unlikely, but who knows?
