Moving to be near the Mouse!!!!
Hi SS friends,
Well, it has been months in the implementation, but our family's plans are now set: we will be moving to Kissimmee in August!!!!
Our oldest daughter was in Kissimmee for a year and recently moved to Orlando. Our youngest will start college in Kissimmee at Johnson University Florida (formerly Florida Christian College) in August.
Our home in Maryland has been on the market since March and we are hoping to have it under contract before we head out some time in August.
We will be beginning our time there in the same vacation rental we stayed in when we went on our Great Orlando Odyssey last April/March.
Living this close to WDW has been a dream for years and now it is to become a reality!!!!!
Looking forward to hopefully meeting some of you when you are in the area!!!

AWESOME!
DW wants to live down there so badly. Here's to hoping your house in Maryland sells quickly!

Can't honestly say I'm not a little bit envious of the geography, but I think the climate would be a deal-breaker for me. Nevertheless, you're excited, and that's great! I hope you're able to get a Disney fix as often as possible.

Congratulations Disney Yorkie!! When we moved to Florida 12 1/2 years ago, our jobs moved us to Miami... pretty close to WDW but not close enough for me! I know it sounds crazy to some people but a 3 1/2 hour drive to Disney is still too far! Good luck with everything in Orlando

Re: Moving to be near the Mouse!!!!
I didn't realize you weren't a native Floridian cousininmiami?! I hear you on the 3-1/2 hour drive not being close enough. That really isn't close enough to pop over whenever you feel like it, and it certainly isn't really a day trip distance. I don't even like driving 2-1/2 hours each way to visit my brother north of Chicago. That makes for a long day.cousininmiami wrote:Congratulations Disney Yorkie!! That's pretty cool that everything fell into place like that. Well, I assume there wasn't much problems! Anyway, congratulations and hope all the best. Totally jealous..

Re: Moving to be near the Mouse!!!!
Thank you! We visited Miami about 7 or 8 years ago and it was a really beautiful place. And 3 1/2 hours is a long drive, but not as long as 17, which is what our drive from Maryland is (we drive, not fly!).cousininmiami wrote:Congratulations Disney Yorkie!! We are a little concerned about the climate, but figure that since we are taking it a year at a time, we can handle anything for a year....especially if The Mouse is included in the anythingcy1229 wrote:Can't honestly say I'm not a little bit envious of the geography, but I think the climate would be a deal-breaker for me.
