News coming out from Magic Kingdom that testing is currently being conducted to allow the castle walkway to be open to guests in between all shows of Dream Along with Mickey. Although it has been stated to be in test phase, management has made it clear that this will become a permanent change in the near future.

The walkway only used to be open from 2:15 to 4:15pm for foot traffic during the parade. I wonder why they are changing this now?

Is this the walkway that goes directly through the castle or around the castle's sides? I guess I don't remember either of those as being restricted unless there was a show actually going on in front of the castle...

And it is closed all day except for during the parade and in the late evening hours? How odd!

it's only closed during shows. other wide you wouldn't be able to get to Cinderellas royal table. I always walk through the castle

From memory, it was open first thing int he morning for a while, until they started getting ready for the first Dream Along with Mickey performance, then it remained closed until much later on in the day.

Access to Cinderella's Royal Table is via the Fantasyland side of the castle, which you could still get inside the castle from, but not *through* the castle.

At least, that's how I remember it... I could be wrong, of course

I remember it the same way, Andy. It's only possible to walk all the way through early in the morning or later in the day. It's possible to go part-way in from the Fantasyland side, but not all the way to the hub side, of the castle in the middle of the day.

Hmm, I wonder why that is? I understand the need for it to be blocked off during shows, but why not have it open the other parts of the day?

How do they close it off? Just a rope barrier? Doesn't seem like it would be too much work, unless they also have to have a CM managing the rope all day long too.

There is a curtain that is pulled over the entryway. There is a CM there as well to make sure no one goes through

This. There's a curtain they pull across the middle of the inside of the castle, since the hub-side of the castle is basically used as a "backstage" area for the shows.

Theoretically it shouldn't be a problem to leave it open and close it for just the show times It's just actually bothering to do it

I'm glad they're doing something. I would hate to be the CM turning people around all day long. Even being stationed there for an hour would be unpleasant.

Does this mean we get to see the beautiful mosiac tiles again?!?!

You would think the inconvenience would be less trouble than paying someone to stand there and tell people they can't go through.
