Test track

Post by fancyfeet » Jun Sun 16, 2013 6:19 pm

Has anyone been on the new test track yet? Do you have to design your own car everytime you ride or can that be bypassed? It looks like they've taken away a lot of the funness by making it a dark ride with colored lights. is this really what it looks like?

I recall reading that Single Riders will bypass the section and I think FP might bypass it as well.

I was there in March. The single riders don't get the opportunity to design their vehicles. Fastpass and standby get 5 minutes to design their vehicle. The point of the new design is that the entire point of it is that you are competing against your fellow riders which design car is better. The big issue is that you will never see your car design displayed during the ride. FOr some weird reason, when you scan in your design before you board, it never goes to the corresponding car that you are in. You can compare your design with your friends after the ride, but it is bad that you can't see yours when you ride.

Actually, the point is to hold people in a waiting area without it feeling like a waiting area. :D It is part of their initiative to make waiting suck less.

It sounds like they may be making changes so that the cars are now compared on the ride itself, but it wasn't ready at the start.

The cars are compared on the ride, but for some weird reason it will most likely won't be your car. I think the designs shown are people who scanned in before you

That is most likely a technical bug rather than how it is supposed to work, similar to how Indy at DLR used to never be able to remember what door a car went through and would constantly play the wrong return message over the radio.

We rode it on our trip in June and I'm on the fence with it. Love that it was updated as the old test track was out dated, but not sure I'm liking the new one. Seems very plain and empty in the ride itself.

I think I may have to agree with lonepalm, I don't know if I like the ride changes. I have only been on it once in April, so maybe it will grow on me if I ride it some more! :? :?

Definitely a good idea to go back and ride it again...just to be sure ;)
I haven't been on the new TT yet, but it looks a bit underwhelming in the videos I have seen. I will definitely by checking it out the next time we get to WDW though :D
