Hidden Nostalgia

I forgot to post this when we got back from our trip to WDW for the WDW Marathon. Monday after the race the wife and I started our vacation at EPCOT and while waiting to ride Mission: Space i saw this in the queue:
I kind of embarrassed my wife when I saw it because I really starting geeking out over it. I have heard of hidden mickeys but the idea of paying homage to the rides of yesteryear is even cooler to me. Does anyone know if there are any other instances of this around the parks?

Not to be stupid, but what does this pay homage to?

the symbol in the center of the image is the Horizons logo, an attraction that used to be in Epcot.

It's actually quite common for them to do stuff like that. On the Winnie the Pooh ride, which used to be Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, there are a couple of paintings within the ride of Mr.Toad and Moley. Also at Test Track you can find the old World of Motion logo in a few places.

I did a few quick searches and found the WoM logos around the new Test Track. I'm not sure how I missed those when I was there last month. Does anyone have pics or know about any others like this?

Here's a link to Yesterland that has pics of the new Test Track.... the trash cans (last pic at the very bottom) has the WoM logo on the side. Also the second picture of the huge "T" in front of the attraction has the logo just above the Chevy logo...

The imagineers usually work a nod to the previous attraction occupying the same space as well as old stuff after redesigns. Aside from the ones listed so far, a very recent example is Captain Rex sitting among the other droids in the new Star Tours queue.
And while this thread is about WDW, a cool nod I always appreciate at Disneyland is the thre mounted talking heads from the old Country Bear show can be seen hidden in the Pooh ride that took its place.

My coworker and I love perusing this site when we are at work. We like reminiscing since we've both been coming to Disney for so long before actually working here.

As a really big fan of "Clean and simple" designs, it's safe to say I love those classic logos. So much so that I set them as icons for various programs on my computer!

The Living Seas logo is much more fun to look at then the drab and generic NeoOffice logo. Just sayin'

I love the nods to the previous attractions!
Now, I don't really know about ones at WDW, but I know of a few at DL.
One was already mentioned in Winnie the Pooh...and it's one of my favorites.

When Innoventions was still open, if you looked on the ceiling in the "demo" areas where you first entered the building, you would eventually see some stars still affixed to the ceiling from the show "America Sings".
Also, in addition to Captain Rex in Star Tours, in the original queue area there was a conveyor carrying droid parts (I'm not sure what it's currently doing)...that was part of "Adventures Thru Inner Space"...and in the original movie the "mighty microscope" could be seen.
Also, the rocket located outside of "Redd Rockets Pizza Port" was part of either "Rocket to the Moon" and/or "Mission to Mars"...I can never remember the exact story on that one.
At the end of the Finding Nemo Subs attraction, the sea serpent from the original "Submarine Voyage" can be seen.
Those are the ones I can think of for now...I'm sure there are others I'm not aware of.
I love these sort of things...and thank you for starting this thread! I look forward to looking for some of these whenever we get back to WDW!
