Pal Mickey at WDW

I will be going to Disney World in July (I'm a westcoaster so I go about every other year). I'm rather curious about the Pal Mickey and have read some articles on it. I'm wondering if it's worth getting. Any suggestions?

Yeah, how much is it anyways? Do you get to keep it your entire stay?

I think it's yours to keep if you buy it. I'm not sure if they do rentals...

And, one site I found, had this to say about price:
Pal Mickey is available for $65 plus tax. The innovative toy is available at select sites in Disney's four Florida theme parks and at merchandise locations in each of the Walt Disney World resort hotels.
Not sure how up-to-date the site is, I plan on calling down there at some point this weekend (unless someone from here beats me to it) to ask about it.

I've heard that rentals are available, but what fun is that? :P

After renting it, does the cost of the rental go towards buying it?

Heh heh. Of course you get to keep it! :D Well, assuming you aren't renting it, anyway.

They sell them literally everywhere, and a new one just came out for the 50th Anniversary: a Mickey in a tuxedo. And if you bring him back to certain stores during your next visit, they'll plug his butt into a machine to upload new phrases and such. :)

If I remember right, they're $65 to own (the old ones were around $50, but I don't think they're available anymore). You can rent them, too, but I'm not sure of the cost, anymore. It used to be something like $50 for deposit and $8 a day, but I think that's changed.

I've never quite understood this thing... does he just randomly start talking when you enter a part of the park, like a ride or shop? Is he a GPS-based tourguide? So many electronic Disney "souvenirs" are pretty poorly-made... this isn't a hunk of junk, is it?

this topic has been discussed in another forum. You can find the thread here. It does include information on how it works.

As there is the thread already open, locking this one.
