How does it SMELL?

Post by cy1229 » May Tue 15, 2012 8:32 am

We talk a lot about the sights, and of course because this is an internet radio station, the sounds, of WDW. What about the smells? What smells tell you that you're definitely in the most magical place on earth? One of my favorites is the popcorn on Main Street, and the candy shop at DTD.

It might sound strange, but I like the smell of the Haunted Mansion. :hm_ghost:

I like the smell of Rome burning in Spaceship Earth.

Funny story though... this past weekend I was at a college graduation and my sister-in-law was holding a dozen roses and she told me to smell them and tell me what it reminded me of...so I smelled the roses packaged up and it smelled EXACTLY like Living with the Land. The second I smelled that smell, I was instantly transported in my mind to Living with the Land and I saw myself going through the rain storm. Amazing!

I've heard many times that smell is the strongest resurrecter of otherwise-forgotten memories. I think it's true.

I completely believe this. Today I smelled something as I was driving home and it reminded me of somewhere, but I couldn't remember where  Frustrating!!

Me too! At work there are some paper goods, like paper towels, that smell like "Florida water". I'm guessing they were manufactured in FL or another state that treats the water with the same chemicals. It reminds me of when I'm taking a shower at Disney

the smell from the steam trains at the magic kingdom, what the inside of the carousel of progress smells like, the popcorn from the vendors, the smell of the fries from the restraunts and vendors, the smell of the inside of Pirates of the Carribean, the smell of the flowers from all over the parks when I smell them upclose, the green house from living with the land, the smell from the train at animal kingdom, and the smell of the inside inside of the monorails really make me feel like Walt Disney World is my "home away from home", the most magical place on earth, and the smells even make me feel like Walt Disney World is, without a doubt, "heaven on earth." :D :mickey:

Like Mark 86 I too love the smells of Soarin, especially the Orange grove.

I also enjoy the cleanliness smell of the restrooms. There is a particular kind of air freshener that is used in the restrooms and I smell it in my mind for weeks after the trip.

I like the smell of the water at Port Orleans.

I like the smells of World Showcase.

Disneyworld is A real festival of smells. :D

I like the Orange grove smell in Soarin' too as it reminds me of Horizons!
I'm not sure about the bathrooms themselves, but I do like the smell of the soap :D
