Ending a trip to WDW

Post by cy1229 » May Mon 14, 2012 9:50 am

DearlyDeparted suggested this thread. :)

How do you end your trips to WDW? We're ending our trip this year a little differently, by not going to any of the parks, and instead spending some time at Typhoon Lagoon before getting a rental car to drive to Cocoa Beach and soak up some sun, surf, and sand before flying home. It'll seem strange not going to the park on our last day, I'm sure.

After looking at floor plans for the homes being built at WDW, my perfect trip would end with me driving back to my house and relaxing just a few miles from the park. :)

What do you do to end your trip? What have you done that you didn't like, and how would your perfect trip end?

my family usually ends up at a park until closing... generally it is MK... then we pile into the go-mobile, by this time i have shotgunned a redbull(or equivilant) and off we roll... usually get home before daylight(usually less than 6 hours OTR) after several stops at McD's and such for caffiene, and then i get to sleep in...

We don't really have a ritual at the end of our trip. The last full day we hit whatever park(s) we want to do last time rides for. Then, is we are taking an early flight the next day, we head to the airport in the AM. If we are taking a little later flight, we might head to DTD and walk around.

My perfect trip wouldn't end, but since all good things must come to an end, it would be to only have to drive an hour or two home, and not have to fly!

Epcot... always Epcot. This never varies, either for family trips or when my CPs would come to an end. Everyone is always so crazy about MK, but to me, Epcot is just so much better. It's the CM favourite as far as parks go. CMs don't like MK.

I agree. Epcot has always been, and will always be, my favorite park, even if they have started to kill off it's spirit!

Last few trips, DW and I have tried to end at MK. Main reason for our latest trip is because we were staying at BLT...so it made sense. However, we make sure we make a stop in Epcot (thank you Monorail) as well. Another thing we have done is eat breakfast at the Poly on our last day before going to MK. It helps keep us relaxed and allows us to enjoy the "vacation" side of why we are there.

So...big breakfast at Kona Cafe...then rest of the morning in MK...monorail to Epcot...ride SSE and maybe grab a margarita...monorail back to MK (or go back to resort depending on what time DME has us leaving).

I think there might be a similar thread, but as I'm on my out the door I don't have time to look.
We almost always hit MK the morning we leave. Generally we go to the Haunted Mansion as that is F1gment's favorite. Plus we usually get her a Mickey Mouse chocolate ice cream bar to eat while we wait for our last bus back to the resort and the Magical Express...

This is great thread idea... Always wondered how others spent their last day. My flight home is usually late morning or early afternoon. Very last day is usually breakfast at the resort and then on to the airport. The day before I like to just wander around the parks. Generally don't hit any attractions. Just want to soak up the atmosphere. I'll find a bench and just sit for a bit and take it all in trying not to forget any detail. Strange, I know! I always try to catch Illuminations on the last night and finish with a couple beers somewhere.

At the end of our trip, we spend a couple days in kissimmee and hit one of the dinner shows. then we pack up the van and drive north to N.H. with all our goodies that we have purchased. When we get home, it's like Christmas time. :D :D :goofy:

We kind of have an unofficial ritual with ending each vacation. The last park we visit is always the Magic Kingdom. When leaving for the last time I always like to turn around and say good-bye to the castle one last time. Other than that everything else can vary. We sometimes try to hit up EPCOT on the last day before heading over to MK, but that really does vary based on where our ADRs will be.

Eh. You can find it's spirit hidden in so many places if you know where to look. And World Showcase never gets old.

We always schedule an afternoon flight home so we can get up early and go to a park for a last minute ride on our favorite attraction!

It's tradition that the last thing we do before hopping in the car to drive back to Miami is go to Downtown Disney and shop! We of course go to the World of Disney Store and get souvenirs to bring home, and go to the Goofy Candy Co. to get yummy stuff like custom apples, cookies, etc. Sometimes we also will grab a nice cappuccino from Ghiradelli to go... then it's on the road and drive south!

True, but like I've said on many threads, the original spirit of Epcot (at least my original interpretation from the mid 90s), is that it is an educational, futuristic theme park...much of that is gone unfortunately.
