Avenge the Monorail!!!
It was finally confirmed today that there will be an Avengers wrap placed on a monorail this Spring for the Magic Kingdom. It will be similar to the Tron-o-rail a few years ago.

I for one think this is a terrible move and really disprove of messing with the appearance of the monorails. Nobody has said which color will be used for it yet.

Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
I dislike messing with the monorails as well. A lot of people have a hobby every trip to locate and/or ride all the different monorail colors, and this messes with that. Not only that though, the monorails are just a tradition...don't touch them!

The word I've been hearing on Twitter is that Monorail Red has been seen with the cab covered in black in preparation for the Avenger wrap.

That does look to be it. I've seen a picture or two with the black nose.MmeLeota wrote:The word I've been hearing on Twitter is that Monorail Red has been seen with the cab covered in black in preparation for the Avenger wrap.
lonepalm: I agree 100% with you. The monorail is an icon that should NEVER be touched (IMO)

Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
i can understand the use of them as billboards though... i mean what is YOUR reaction hearing the whoosh coming down the rail above your head? RED huh, doesn't red normally run the express/resort lines? it seems when i am there is is usually lime, coral, silver, and sometimes gold on the epcot rail (that is the rail i would put it on, seeing as that you can see that track from world drive, and not just around the lake...)
Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
tacky, just like the ones in vegas
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

You can't blame them though, they already have the merch in the parks, and soon the characters are going to be showing up. It would be silly not to promote their properties. Though I am guessing they may be gunshy about attractions, wouldn't want to sell off the division and be left holding the bag like Universal did.
Re: Avenge the Monorail!!!
It is Red. I've seen it sticking out of the Monorail shop. I'll reserve judgement until I see the finished "product." Hey, it could be worse... A lot worse!Len90 wrote:That does look to be it. I'm waiting for Diz to sell the rights to advertize on the monorails to other companies. Who knows? Maybe an iphone monorail for its next release? Or a monorail for the next release of Windows? There's some $$$ to be made in "product placement"...

I haven't been a fan of the "new" monorails since the Mark IVs were taken away...horizons1 wrote:tacky, just like the ones in vegas

I'm on the fence about the idea of using the monorail as a moving billboard, but I will say this...at least they are only using one. They could have created wraps for several trains, giving them each a different character or something for distinction.
I love the monorails as-is, but I can see why they would do it...and it's only temporary.
Mindflipper, I would hate to see that...

P.S. Someone stand by to resuscitate Len90 after he reads that post!

Since Disney has a stake in almost every consumer field, I would expect them to ban all other promos!mindflipper wrote:I'm waiting for Diz to sell the rights to advertize on the monorails to other companies. Speaking of, they really had no faith in John Carter it seems. They didn't even make a video game for it.

I usually don't care about junk like this, but I totally hate this. It doesn't even look like the monorail. Sure to wish Disney would quit messing with things like this.

One thing to note is when they do wrap the Monorails, they do much needed maintenance to the vehicle as well. So while it may not look good to others, at least the train will run another year or two.cy1229 wrote:I usually don't care about junk like this, but I totally hate this. Not a fan of the Mono-wraps.
I don't understand why they feel the need to wrap the monorails, but all the buses go untouched?
You would think there would be significantly more exposure with the buses?
That's why I'm not in the advertising dept I guess.

I didn't mind the balloons, or the HCOE logos. The problem with those came when I was inside and the view is obstructed because of the decals/wraps.
I saw the Tronorail last year. It didn't look bad, but I wasn't a fan. Not happy about the Avengers thing (Disney owned-or not, I still think of Marvel as something that doesn't belong in the parks), especially that it will be covering Monorail Red.
Wizzard419, my understanding from awhile ago is that Disney is not allowed to build Marvel attractions east of the Mississippi. I'm sure someone here will know if that is wrong, though.
