Epcot's 30th anniversary

Post by Epcotmaniac » Mar Wed 21, 2012 11:18 am

Maybe we could use this thread to collect all news and informations of the upcoming anniversary.

Today the Disneyparks Blog announced that there will be some merchandise and revealed some cool pins and a new jumbo pin.

I still hope that they make an event in October. If so I really need to travel to Orlando this year.

Good idea! I hope they do some fun things since I will be down there on a CP. I've never been during a big event like an anniversary.

Oooo, looks like some fun things :D Even though I don't generally collect pins, I might have to buy a few of those swell looking beauties!

Ooooooooooo....pins. Wow. They've realy put a bunch of hard work in coming up with the merchandise. Special anniversary CD set like they did with DL's 50th? No. Some retro stuff that hasn't been made since the park opened in 1982? No. Just pins. Next, it's the T-shirts...

They're not doing as much for 30th. Seems like DLP is doing more for their 20th than they're doing for EPCOT's 30th over here...

Of course, not much of a celebration but enough new merchandise to spend money on. That pin is nice...

An updated CD box set would be nice, but I wonder if those have gone the way of the dinosaurs with most music seeming to come in downloadable form these days? :(

Didn't stop Tokyo Disneyland from outdoing DL's 50th when they had 25th - they had a 10 CD boxset!

That is because TDL is simply awesome!! ;) I wish I had known about it - I'm going to have to stalk eBay to find a set!

Can we hope that pins are a start? I do like the pin designs but it would be a hige let down if that is all they do. Personally I think retro shirts would be nice, but keep in mind that there is a line that has been out for a few years now. Maybe some retro inspired 30th shirt then?

Yeah they already have some fantastic retro Epcot Center shirts there. Maybe they'll decorate the park or do something special.

That is amazing. Hopefully, they do that projection of this onto the ball...like they do with the Castle. I'd bet they do! I HOPE they do!

Wasn't the 10 cd boxset literally just a box with 10 of the previous park CDs in them? As opposed to the 50th boxset they had at DLR where it was compiled audio.

That would present a pretty interesting technical challenge because of the multiple facets of the ball. You'd practically have to come up with a custom graphic to account for the different angles of each facet, I don't think it would look good otherwise. I'm sure if could be done, but it'd be pretty time consuming!
