For those who love Spaceship Earth...
A few days I posted an Illuminations video.
Here is one for Spaceship Earth...from the time you walk up to the grand 'ole ball to exit! It is the Jeremy Irons version (my personal fav)

Thank you for posting
...thank goodness they never can do away with Spaceship Earth like Horizons and WOM! He did a good job filming even though some scenes were a bit dark,(I always look for the sleeping monk). Could almost smell Rome burning

I wouldn't be so quick to say they could never do away with Spaceship Earth. It is far more front and center than the Horizons or World of Motion pavilions ever were, but they could easily just simply close the attraction and leave the shell as they did Wonders of Life. I've heard some guests exclaim that they never realized that Spaceship Earth was actually an attraction. I don't think they ever would abandon Spaceship Earth as an attraction, but they could...Sharonofwindham wrote:Thank you for posting...thank goodness they never can do away with Spaceship Earth like Horizons and WOM! To me, Spaceship earth defines what EPCOT is supposed to be.

Mine too! I don't think I have been to Epcot since they changed it to the Judi Dench version...so other than hearing it played here at Subsonic, I've yet to experience her version of the narration.lonepalm wrote:Thanks! SSE is my favorite ride and Jeremy Irons' is my favorite version!

We have experienced the newest version the last two trips ~ we were not impressed. Dame Judi does a nice job on the narration, but the script is sooooooo inane that it makes me want to bring the old version on and listen to that instead! And although I miss the music on the descent and the awesome fiber optic city, the new interactive portion of the attraction is cuteDisneyYorkie wrote:Mine too! Re: For those who love Spaceship Earth...
Yeah...she does a good job narrating and is not boring. She just had the worst script possible. It's the first version of SSE that makes all of those great advances in communication seem almost trivial and like like had little impact on where we are today. Relating major events to "backups" and the "world wide web" are a slap in the face to those things. Again...I'm not upset with her...just the people who wrote her script.Amy wrote:We have experienced the newest version the last two trips ~ we were not impressed. I went to Epcot for the first time in '83, and I can't imagine walking into the park and not knowing Spaceship Earth is an attractionAmy wrote:I wouldn't be so quick to say they could never do away with Spaceship Earth. Me too! I wouldn't imagine that would ever close it, but stranger things have happened at the WDW resort. That would be a sad day indeed though if they didSharonofwindham wrote:I went to Epcot for the first time in '83, and I can't imagine walking into the park and not knowing Spaceship Earth is an attractionAmy wrote:I wouldn't be so quick to say they could never do away with Spaceship Earth. . It was the very first attraction I experienced @ Epcot, which was really kind of crazy 'cause that is where everyone headed...the line was a mile long...we live and learn
Cross my fingers they never close it for good.

Re: For those who love Spaceship Earth...
Oh I think I'm going to miss that music on the descent too...that was one of my favorite parts. You would think Disney could do a better job with the script. Certainly they have writers and historians that could manage something awesome if they chose...perhaps it is about PC as much as anything???Amy wrote:We have experienced the newest version the last two trips ~ we were not impressed. Re: For those who love Spaceship Earth...
it is about placating the unwashed masses, and of course their attraction cash cow, Siemens. i am sure Siemens wanted a more up-to-date lingo version(downloads, backups and the like) and thought it was too fore-brained in the last incarnation(anyone seen 'Idiocracy'?)
