MK open 24hrs on Feb 29, 2012 (?)

Time will tell if this is really going to happen but there seems to be a strong rumor that the WDW Magic Kingdom will be open 24 hours (overnight) on February 29, 2012 to commemorate leap year. It also is supposed to apply to Disneyland as well. I seem to recall a few years back the MK was open until 2AM around Christmastime and on site guests got an additional few hours but it wasn't quite a full overnight opening. I wonder how the crowds would be at the Magic Kingdom at 4 or 5 o'clock in the morning.

That is really interesting. I honestly doubt it would be busy at all if the park was open. Another issue I see with this is the overnight cleaning that takes place. IF the park is open for a full overnight then there will not be any of that important overnight work. I don't recall this ever being done in the past and the latest I have seen the MK go for EMH is 3AM. The park was pretty barren by around 1.

Yeah...other than them renting the park out for a late night...I don't see this happening. It would be cool to say you were there in MK at 4:00 AM or something...and maybe get a "Leap Day" pin...but that's about it. Also...I assume it would be a skeleton crew of CMs...which means hardly anything would be open...leading to tired, hungry, and cranky guests.

I love WDW as much as the next Disney Freak but I don't think it would still have magic at 4 am. Too much of a good thing - even the MK - is not a good thing. I need my sleep!!

I would totally go during the wee hours of the morning. It would be cool and less crowded and heavenly
And perhaps a bit eerie as well

I'm all for it and would probably plan to be a part of it. Unfortunately, it falls on a Wednesday so I don't think it's true. Friday or Saturday maybe, but isn't Wed the lowest attendance day?

Weds and Sundays are usually the slowest (which is why DLR doesn't have early entry on those days). They seem to be the travel days so people are leaving or arriving.

There have been many other leap years without a 24 hour park marathon. I think this probably is just a rumor...

I suppose there is always a first time. Just think of the proposals that would take place that night in front of a lit up castle.
