Best Beers in WDW

Post by andrewgator » Nov Mon 28, 2011 10:18 pm

I'm a homebrewer that is completely obsessed with beer and WDW. What are everyones favorite beers in WDW? Places to have a beer?

My number one currently wold be Bohemia in Mexico's San Angel Inn. Its an awesome bohemian pilsener perfect for hot Florida days.

Another great one is the Schofenhoffer Hefeweizen during Food & Wine.

Also check out the Orlando Brewing beers at Raglan Road. The pale ale is solid.

Can't forget the whole line-up at Big River on the Boardwalk. Working my way from the Czech Pilsner to the Red Ale on a cool afternoon on crescent lake is one of my favorite things to do in WDW. Happy Place.

I really wish I could remember the name because I think it was the best tasting beer I have ever had. It was a Canadian beer, amber in color, and I got it from the same vender where they sold those delectable...oh don't get me started...Beaver Tails   ! Still can't believe they're gone   .

I'm willing to bet it was NOT Moosehead.

My favorite Canadian beer is Molson Export Ale, but it's not amber, it 's much more pale in color. I know Canadians are big on Molson and Moosehead though.

You have to come to my hometown, Ottawa Ontario, during Winterlude to truly experience the Beavertail in all it's glory. Skaing on the Rideau Canal and getting one from vendor on the ice is how a Beavertail is meant to be eaten! Getting sugar on your gloves, lemon juice freezing as you eat the steamy, doughy treat... I can taste it now.

Back on topic. As a Canadian, Molson beers and Moose Head are OK as far as domestic beers go (think Bud in the US), but I prefer Germany for beer at WDW. I had the beer flight at Biergarten last time we were there, and made a point to stop by Germany each time we were in World Showcase after that for a Spatan or a Warsteiner. As for Canadian beers (at the Canada Pavillion or Le Celier), I always enjoy a Fin du Monde (9%) or Blanche de Chambly.

Happy 'hopping'!

We always love that we have the option of getting Yuengling. They don't sell that in MN and it is at most bars in DW, so we have to get our fill when it is available to us!

Always great to get a good ol german beer in World Showcase! DAS BOOT!

I don't know if they still serve it, but I enjoyed the "Safari Amber" at Pizzafari in Animal Kingdom.

I'm pretty sure it was still on the menu when we were there. I considered a beer with one meal, but I just couldn't convince myself to shell out $7 or $8 for a tasty adult beverage

Since this past trip was my first time at WDW post 21 I was finally able to gain some exposure to the beers. Some of the places I had an adult beverage were at Le Cellier and Big River. Le Cellier like the other countries sells beers that are actually native to the country. They feature beers brewed by Unibroue which is located in Quebec. I was actually quite familiar with the Maudite from my trip to Montreal so I decided to have the Ephemere which is the apple one. It was really good! Big River I personally think is a place that you really have to try. I believe I had the Red Ale and it was really good.

I'm a "BIG" Big River fan!! I live in Chattanooga and it's my HOMETOWN beer. Chattanooga is where Big River started!! I have a WDW (Boardwalk) Big River shirt and when ever I go downtown wearing it, they give me a free pint. That shirt has paid for itself many times over.

I love doing "Beers Around the Lake" at EPCOT, especially during F&W! I've also have found a few great places to get a good brew at the Studios (MGM). When it comes to price, well it's cheaper then you pay at a stadium!! Oh, the Look Outs, our local minor league Baseball team, has Big River beers on draft!!!

Not really a beer drinker, but I do love getting the Safari Amber at either Epcot at the African Outpost or in DAK at the Yak and Yeti.

I would love to check out Big River. My husband and my dad are both beer makers and all about the craft brew. Is this place usually pretty busy?

Yea it does stay busy most of the time. I came in second in the 1996 Peach State Brew Off!! With a Still Mead of all things!
