New RUMOR for Animal Kingdom (not AVATAR)
On my site, http://www.interactiveWDW.com, I posted a RUMOR that I read from screamscape about Disney possibly being in talks with the Chinese government to bring over some Giant Pandas to Animal Kingdom. To read the rumor, as well as possibly where they will go, head on over to my site, or screamscape! What do you think of the idea, and the rumored placement of them?

INFINITELY better and much more fitting than that Avatar crap.
Love the idea, of course the ideal place is Asia but as to where remains the question. They deserve their own little area, of course.

Probably unlikely since they are like... well China, when it comes to lending out the bears (yes, lend, you pay them loads of cash, you feed them, you house them, and they reserve the right to yank them back at any time). They would also have to set up a breeding program since that is also the condition of loaning them out, you make baby pandas, you get to keep them for a few years and then have to send them back to china as they are property of the government.
The one bummer about panda exhibits is that they are done differently than other animal exhibits in that they may have very short viewing hours and you get a brief look and are gone.

I can see Disney being selected to house Giant Pandas. Especially since they have more of a presence in China now, I would think China would be fairly trusting. Disney certainly appears to do a good job on conservation...I would love the chance to see the Giant Panda again. We saw them very briefly at the San Diego zoo. Like Wizz said, the hours were brief...

I imagine there will be a FastPass line for the Pandas...

Hmmm, could be. I would hope they would have something like the San Diego zoo where you could join a line and see them close up, or you could see them from further away, but not have to queue up...Brian845 wrote:I imagine there will be a FastPass line for the Pandas...

Wasn't that way at the Atlanta Zoo. They were out pretty much all day and you could stay in there all you wanted to watch them.Wizzard419 wrote:Probably unlikely since they are like... well China, when it comes to lending out the bears (yes, lend, you pay them loads of cash, you feed them, you house them, and they reserve the right to yank them back at any time). In some ways, I could see it possible. China has been pushing Disney for that second theme-park in Shanghai, so lending out pandas could possibly be a sweetener for them as part of that deal.
Again, this is all speculation and rumor, not hard facts yet...

Yeah, and they are not exactly big on just giving them out to anyone. It would be akin to asking for a Bald Eagle for your TGIFridays in Tokyo, or whatever is the national bird of canada (I think it's the beaver) for the Gap in Seoul.

But China does look more favorably on requests from organizations with a background in breeding like Disney has right?Wizzard419 wrote:Yeah, and they are not exactly big on just giving them out to anyone. It took the San Diego Zoo, with a longer history of conservation/breeding than Disney, like 10-20 years of negotiations with China.
They would have better odds, and options, if they went for red pandas.

Yes, but giant pandas, outside of the cubs, look like they are on sedatives 24/7.Amy wrote:But giant pandas are so much cuter!
