It's about time!!!! I hate people booking multiple ressies then not cancelling the ones they don't want. Makes it harder for all of us to get good ressies, so maybe this will help solve the problem.

I had put something about this new policy over in the Disney Dining Plan Your Thoughts thread...over here...

One place should be enough to discuss, here or there, we'll leave it up to the mods to smush them together in the appropriate place ;)

Dining Plan and ADR changes are separate topics (IMO). Let's leave a separate thread for this.

My feelings are mixed on this. I know how hard it is to get a reservation even 6 months out as people just keep booking reservations. I do think that $10 a head is a bit steep though. Time will only tell if this method helps in ensuring those guests that truly want the ADRs get them.

As many times that we weren't able to get seated because of them holding a table for a group that didn't show, it's not enough!!

I've been says for ages they needed to do something similar, and thankfully they did. I'm completely in favour for it. Once you work the restaurants there, you understand how badly this policy needed to be in place.

I'm not entirely sure if the $10 fee is going to work though, it's so modest that if you did book up a few places the worst you have is the cost of a cocktail (well one for every fee you get hit with).

I think the worst one I've ever had was $100 cancellation fee, it was a trendy place and if i recall the corkage fee was like $75.

Agreed. I think $10 per person is enough to make most people stop and think about scheduling ADR's willy-nilly though...

A policy change long overdue! Making ADR's was becoming a real hassle!

You can't blame Disney for this policy change. It takes a few bad apples to spoil it for the rest of us. Hopelfuly this will give people better chances at gaining reservations.

Keep in mind it's ten dollars a person, not total. So it's a bit more than the cost of a cocktail. This is a good move in my opinion.

I agree with what has been said above - a long overdue policy. And it's absolutely that a few bad people ruin it for the real Disney fans like us (the ones who don't double book). We all know about booking reservations 180 days out, but I'm sure most of us have been frustrated if we decided to change something at, say... 160 days out and it's already booked. I guess I feel worse for the families who don't get to go as often as most of us, and are impacted by the people who cause the problem. So, hopefully this policy curbs most of the issue!

I meant per person, they could go a lot worse and charge for the average price of a full meal as some places do.
