Yeah, it is actually a similar complaint that WoC has, there isn't a solid plot/narrative. It is just a series of themed presentations.

One interesting thing people noticed, the arena/seating area where the event will be held is noticeably smaller than other shows, which led to a little confusion as to how important it was supposed to be. Other than that it uses some live performers, it could literally run every half hour (or however long it is supposed to be) over and over again each night since there is nothing to reset after each show.

A DATE, A DATE!!! For those who have been waiting 5+ years (it seems) for this to open, May 27th is the opening date. Is anyone planning on checking this out around opening?

If everything is still going as planned, there is zero reason to do so at launch because they are going to have another big attraction in the land slated to open once the area starts to cool off.

It can never be hot enough. I love the heat <3

I watched Avatar last sunday. It was ok but to long.

But I think they can make some great rides of the movie itself.

Were you dropped as a baby?

As far as the opening of Avatarland, it's the day after daughter #2 graduates from high school, and the day of her graduation open house.

Come to think of it, maybe I will go.

I will go when things settle down, during the slow time of year in September. Crowds will be brutal there in the summer!

Related, it looks like Rivers of Light just had their first public soft opening yesterday and it is bland... I can see why leadership buried it.

This might already be in this thread somewhere, but I don't want to look back (lazy Sunday evening ~ sorry) ~ where exactly is Avatar-land going to be? Is it back where Camp Minnie Mickey and the old Lion King theater were?

Yep, they had to demolish it, but there were apparently delays/whatever. Lion King got a new venue while the camp is on hiatus/may never return.

Lion King is a great show, I really love it, but I wonder if it's been around a little too long and might need replacing.

That's what I thought ~ thanks Wizz. Yeah, I'm thinking Camp Minnie Mickey will be no more. I really enjoy the Lion King show but cy1229 has a point, might be time for a revamp anyhow. It's always packed though so I imagine as long as it is popular, it's not going anywhere. They can put a lot of people in the theater and a lot of those performers seem to have been with the show for a really long time so they probably don't have to have much rehearsal time anymore.

Most of the shows at WDW have been around so long they are stale. While it is neat to think "Oh, parents who grew up with these films will show them to their kids" it usually doesn't happen since there is new stuff.

My guess, as to why they never remove/revamp is that the shows are cheapish to put on and replacement would require shutting it down, building new everything, and training a new cast, which means your park is now without an attraction for an extended period.
