14 Days and counting!!!

Post by rphillips14 » Sep Sat 10, 2011 7:00 am

Not to gloat but we are 14 very short days away from our return trip (10 FANTASTIC days) to...... you know where...

I wanted to lay out our dining plans and ask anyone who has an opinion, suggestion or comment about anywhere we are going-please make a post.

Thank you.

Hoop-De Doo (Never seen it)
O'hana (Never dined there)
50's Prime Time (Dined once for lunch)
Mama Melrose (Never dined there)
Wolfgang Puck (Never dined there)
Earl of Sandwich (Never dined there)
La Cantina de San Angel (Never dined there)
LeCellie (Never dined there)
Boma (Never dined there)
Sanaa (Never dined there)
Boulangerie Patisserie (Never dined there)

Also, what's everyone's opinion of Downtown Disney. My wife and oldest daughter are going shopping there but the 8 year old girl and the 5 year old boy and I are thinking of going to one of the parks? I would appreciate everyone's opinions of thoughts....

Wow! That is some line-up of dining you got there rphillips!

Hoop-De-Doo ~ we went there several years ago and it was a really enjoyable show and the food was pretty tasty as I recall...
O'Hana ~ dined there with the Mayhem Marauders last December, enjoyable company, but the food wasn't our taste, but everyone else very much enjoyed the food
Earl of Sandwich ~ went there this past December, fell in love with the Italian sandwich! So yummy! Really long lines and crowded for tables, but the line moves quickly so don't be discouraged.
LeCellier ~ we couldn't get in for lunch so I got soup and breadsticks to go for F1gment. She quite enjoyed the cheese soup, I tried it but couldn't like it since it was loaded to the gills with onions :( The breadsticks were tasty! The whole snack was outrageously expensive for what it was, I think it was $11 or $12 for a tiny cup of soup and three breadsticks, but Mom really enjoyed it so it was worth it.
Pecos Bill ~ also on the list for this past December. We had an awesome pulled pork bbq sandwich. And they have a "make your own fixings bar" so I had a nice little free side salad ;)
Cosmic Rays ~ good food, really long lines and crowded dining but seeing the campy stage show is worth it to us.

We haven't been to any of the other restaurants as we are mostly grab and go counter surfers so we can keep go, go, going!

We enjoy going to the World of Disney at Downtown Disney since that has the largest selection of Disney merchandise. We do go in a few other stores but that is our main target there. We tried to do the characters in flight but it wasn't operating the few times we checked due to the winds. If your two youngest are happy going with Daddy to the parks while Mom and your oldest go shopping, I would say go for it. You're likely to get out much cheaper that way ;)

Have fun :D

That is quite a list and many of them I have never eaten in but here goes.

Peco Bills do a great taco shell (not hot at all) and you can load this little baby from the fixings bar.
Columbia Harbour House I love the shrimp here but Joe says the sandwiches are great as well( he does not like seafood)
Cosmic Rays worth a trip just for the entertainment got to love Sonny Eclipse. The ribs are really good as well.

Boma and Sanna I have never dined at but if the food is as good as the quick service at Animal Lodge then I would be in, we had a wonderful bean dish there in February.

So to Epcot.
Boulangerie Patisserie all I am going to say is NNNNNooooommmmmmm.
Biergarten What a surprise food was good, entertainment was fun and if I had of had someone with me that was willing I would have been down on the dance floor doing the polka with the kiddies.
Le Cellier Please don't let me put you off because there are a lot of members on the board that love the place and rave about it but for us it was a huge let down. The steak that we had was way to salty so much so that we could not eat it. The atmosphere was great and the server was delightful.

Dining.... One of my favorite topics......
hoop-de-doo. was great. we enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and the show.
50's Diner- We go there every trip. What a fun time. I think that they do a real great job on their Fried Chicken. Your CM can either make or break the experience.
Mama Melrose- This was good, nothing great.
Wolfgang Puck- This was probably our most disappointing dinners. Food was average, atmosphere ok. I guess because of the name, we expected more. I think we set our standards to high before we got there.
Boma- Haven't tried this yet. We have reservations in February. Looks Fun.
Coral Reef- Atmosphere was great. We lucked out and got a table up at the front at the aquarium. Food was ok. Again I was expecting a few more seafood dishes. But it was ok. I would go there again.
Biergarten- One of my favorite places. Buffet style with very good food. the oompa band was very enjoyable and you sit family style with other families and meet some wonderful people from all over the country...... Oh and most important. Extremly large mugs of Beer. Yum!!!! Again, we are returning in February.
Cosmic Rays- Food ok, very crowded. have not been there in quite a few years.
My top pick for the places we have been has to be Marakeesh at Epcot Morroco. Atmosphere, food, service, and entertainment is fabulous.

Cape May Cafe is a new favorite! Ate there for the 1st time this last time. If you like seafood, you will LOVE this place!
We also ate at La Cantina de San Angel this past time--it was good, but it was a LOT of food. Order sparingly and share.

Enjoy!!!
