I am planning to take my then 3 yr. old son to WDW for his 1st time, my 20th time. Which of the following resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian, or Carribbean Beach) would you choose & why?

I have been to WDW 19 times and stayed at many of their resorts in the past. I have stayed at Poly & Carribbean Beach several times in the past, but have never stayed at Contemporary. I have also stayed at Dixie landings, Port Orleans Riverside, Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness Campground. I have seen all the resorts by resort hopping except for AKL & the new Sarasota Springs.

Of those three, you've selected 2 deluxe properties and one moderate. The moderates are nice enough, but have outside entries and the rooms are small with only double beds. CBR has a great pool and fun theme though.

I'd personally go with the Poly of the choices you've listed. Fantastic theme, amazing volcano theme pool, large rooms and great location.

Have fun!

I would stay at the Polynesian resort because of all the different transportation options to the parks. Also I like the south seas theme of the resort.

Having the monortail at your doorstep is a big plus with little ones.

I've read and heard that the Contemporary has one of the best character breakfasts. I've also heard that the Polynesian is nice in general. I've stayed at the Contemporary and it was really nice too.

If money is no object, then I would go with one of the deluxe resorts. I have never been to contemporary but I have been to Polynesian to eat at Ohana. It is very nice and the grounds are just beautiful. I can't say anything about the rooms but the hotel is just beautiful.

No trip is complete without a stop at Ohana's! I absolutely love the Polynesian. It was one of the best experiences I ever had. Everything was just great about it. The staff was friendly, and we couldn't find one flaw with the place (not saying that others have flaws!).

Contemporary Resort is great, you can't beat the proximity to the park! Once again, awesome staff and awesome resort. Plus, the monorail goes through the lobby!

Haven't heard anything about Carribbean Beach, but the pictures I saw look great.

If it were up to me however, I would go with the Polynesian for the one-of-a kind experience it offered me.

I will be dining at O'Hana's this coming Saturday night. I can't wait to have some of those prawns. If only Wishes were earlier that night, but it is not until 9:00, so I guess we will leave O'Hana's and head to MK for that later. No parade that night either.

I would pick Poly.

The grounds are beautiful, pool is cool especially with the new slide, and the rooms are large and spacious.

I stayed there on my honeymoon and loved it.

Plus you can't go wrong with a resort that has a monorail!

I would pick the Contemporary, its my personal fav, its right next door to MK and the TTC plus it has the best resort arcade on property (It used to be even nicer but its still pretty good.)

Grand Floridian I would choose, but the Poly is a very nice one as well.

Contemporary because it's just so cool how the monorail goes through it. Plus you're really close to MK

My favorite is definitely the AKL. I could spend my entire vacation just sitting in the lobby and be perfectly content. They also have the Boma, one of my favorite places in the world to eat. On top of that, if cost isn't an issue, you can get savannah views and watch the animals from the window. They've also got a great water pool with a water slide, and lots of stuff to do on ground. The only problem is that transportation is a bear (buses), but if you have a car that shouldn't be a problem.

Also, did you stay at the Campgrounds with a tent or in the cabins? The cabins are FANTASTIC, and have kitchens which will seriously offset the price of staying (think $15-$25 a person per meal versus a dozen eggs and oatmeal). It also sports some serious living space with a foldout murphy bed so you and kids (if you have any) can sleep in different rooms. From there MK is just a boat away, and the transportation center is just a monorail from there. Just something to consider! :-)

Oh, and I'm also a pretty big fan of the cheaper, but still cool, Coronado Resort. Standard moderate rooms, but a nifty pool area, and some neat places to shop and eat.

I stayed at the Contemporaty a long time ago and I remember a kids play area. A 3 year old would probbly be happiest at a pool with less splashing (ie Slides)

We took our 3 year old grandaughter last summer and her favorite thing to do was sit in the kiddie pool at Shades of Green. She also loved running through any fountain we found (DOnt forget to bring a swim diaper or swim suit because her pull ups disenegrated in the water eventually) ALso her favorie ride was in toon town and not a ride at all. It was the play gym thing they have near Mickey and Minnies house.
