Animal Kingdom Lodge Recreation
We just got a deal in the mail and booked our stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Kidani Villas. This is our first time at the Lodge and we splurged for a savanna view. I know there is other recreation around the resort, animal viewing and feeding and such, but the official site is a bit vague. Any tips from those of you who have stayed at the resort? Thanks!

Watching the animals from your balcony is definitely the highlight of staying here, at least for me. They have different types of animals depending on where you're staying (we stayed in the main lodge and could see ostriches and giraffes). You can always go to the Arusha Rock viewing area where they have a public viewing area, and native africans to speak to about their country. There's also storytelling around a campfire, and if you have kids there's a musical instrument parade a couple of times a day I believe (it starts in the shop if I recall). Have fun, it's really a great experience!

Do they have any African tumbling acts? Those were quite fun when I visited Kenya.Brian845 wrote:Watching the animals from your balcony is definitely the highlight of staying here, at least for me. That's a neat idea yodiwan. I will have to try that if we get to AKL next time!yodiwan1 wrote:Don't forget at night to search for the night vision scopes!!! i have held my camera up to them and the pic still comes out!

To elaborate, the night vision viewing area is located around a winding trail that leads from the main pool, past the hot tub. It is definitely worth it. You're going to love relaxing by the outside firepit in the huge rocking chairs, and waking up early in the morning to go out and look at the animals from your balcony. It's my favorite place to stay at WDW. Have a wonderful time!

Let us know what you think and any fun, new things that you find to do. We will be staying there in Dec. 2012 on a family reunion vacation in one of the 2-room suites (DVC). I've only stayed there once and it was only for one night. We didn't have much of an opportunity to explore, so I'd love to hear what you think.

Wow, that night vision picture is amazing, yodiwan. I can't wait to see for myself! We'll be sure to explore the trails and report back about everything we see at the resort. If anyone has other ideas, be sure to let me know!

Don't forget the hot tub itself! Especially after a day of walking around Epcot, it can be essential to a good night's sleep.
Also sitting by the fire right out back in the rocking chairs.
