Re: No more ESPN Weekends!!
Only thing I'll miss is the ESPN shows from MGM. Other than that, no real loss IMHO.

Re: No more ESPN Weekends!!
Just my opinion but I'm not sure ESPN and Disney were a great fit anyway. In our town, the ESPN crowd could care less about anything Disney except the golf courses. As a matter of fact, I've known some husbands/fathers who have let the wives take the children to Disney while they played golf. I never got or respected that because taking care of a child at Disney is a two person job (or it should be). So for me, losing ESPN is no big deal.

I'm a bit saddened by this since I used to really enjoy watching all the shows that were filmed in Disney World on TV. As MadEye said, besides that there really is no great loss for me either.

So I'm guessing they are going to eliminate the 5K that goes along with the ESPN weekend?! I wonder if Disney is going to replace it with something else?!

I would be surprised if they eliminate the 5K. That's a healthy inititive Disney kind of thing.

I would be surprised if they elimnated that race, I'm sure it's a money maker?! They will probably just re-name it, like they've done to others.rphillips14 wrote:I would be surprised if they eliminate the 5K. That's a healthy inititive Disney kind of thing.

Is that race around the time the new Princess 5K is run?boilerbabe wrote:I would be surprised if they elimnated that race, I'm sure it's a money maker?! I'm not sure but I know that the new Princess 1/2 marathon used to be "Minnie's Marathon Weekend" and that was a 15K. We ran that one in '07. The ToT used to be a 13K and was run in Oct. which is now the Food and Wine 1/2.Amy wrote:Is that race around the time the new Princess 5K is run?boilerbabe wrote:I would be surprised if they elimnated that race, I'm sure it's a money maker?! So they do shuffle the runs around then, both in name and distance.boilerbabe wrote:I'm not sure but I know that the new Princess 1/2 marathon used to be "Minnie's Marathon Weekend" and that was a 15K. Re: No more ESPN Weekends!!
I believe so Amy. Probably the less popular ones?! Or maybe whatever they feel will have more of a draw? I was just surprised that they switched the 15K to a 1/2. You narrow the field of people. Hence why the 1/2 will fill way before the full in Jan.
Re: No more ESPN Weekends!!
I used to always ponder why they didn't just do ESPN The Weekend over at the Wide World of Sports. It seems to make much more sense to host the events over there.

Re: No more ESPN Weekends!!
i went 2 years ago and it was strange. There were people there with intentions to only get autographs, and some of the athletes were jerks about it too! good riddance!

Re: No more ESPN Weekends!!
I never went to it or really watch ESPN so it is no loss to me!
Re: No more ESPN Weekends!!
I used to watch some of the shows during that week just to experience WDW on TV. Other than that, no loss to me either.
