Main Street Electrical Parade VS. Spectromagic?

Which do you prefer? Myself am a huge fan of both but am really enjoying the blast from the past with the MSEP. I'd love to hear your thoughts and discussions ... ready? Go!

MSEP myself. A love I've carried since childhood - it brings back good memories.

The first time my parents took us to DL, I was 3 1/2 and my sister was 5. My parents still talk about bringing the record (RECORD!!!) home and playing it in our living room, and my sister and I telling them what float each different piece of music belonged to.

Since that's the reason I vote MSEP, I cannot disparage anyone for voting SM because it's from their childhood. We went to WDW the first year SM was there, and I kinda liked it although it just simply was not the same.

I love them both. I can't even choose a favorite. Every time I start to pick one, then I remember something I love about the other parade. The music for both makes me smile

I think long term I like spectro. Main St. EP was a good nostolgia blast, but Im kind of done with it.

I prefer Spectromagic since I think the music just resembles more of what a person expects when they think of a Disney parade. The singing is a great touch and the parade just feels a lot smoother to me.

I really love them both! I almost wish they could do them both each night or alternate on different days. But I had to choose MSEP since that's what I grew up loving - and that music is very catchy!

I'm going to go with Spectromagic, since that's what we saw on our honeymoon. I probably grew up with the Main Street Electrical Parade, but I don't remember it. Had the choice been between Spectromagic and the Electrical Water Pageant, I would have gone with EWP hands down!:)

This was a toughy! I want to vote for MSEP, but after working during Spectro, and cleaning up after it, I had to swing that way. Seeing MSEP this past year has been amazing, but I jsut don't remember it the same as when I was a kid. I also love the ending of Spectro, with the colors changing and everything coming to life. While I am patriotic, I find the ending to MSEP to be cheesy and out of place.

The patriotic floats at the end were added in 1976 during the American Bicentennial. I think the banner actually had "1776 - 1976" if I remember correctly before it was switched to "To Honor America". Before that, it actually ended with "It's a Small World" like the TDL version did. That's why if you have any old records from WDW the MSEP track on the record had the "It's A Small World - Disney Medley" ending instead of the "To Honor America" ending. It just took a while for Disney to eventually update that track for the change in music.

BTW when WDW's MSEP went to DLP, they switched out the "To Honor America" floats back to some of the "It's a Small World" floats instead.

I grew up watching the MSEP. So it will always be a classic to me. However I did vote for Spectromagic because of the new age lighting and all around material.

I will forever prefer Spectro, sorry. MSEP just... no.

Of course I grew up with Spectro. So that's likely why.

Oh man, I am surprised and disappointed that spectromagic is winning. I LOVE the MSEP. I loved it when I was a kid, the first time I ever saw it, and I was around in the early 2000's when we thought it was going away forever. I even got a sticker with a float on it that said goodbye. they were giving them away.

And when I saw it for the first time in many years in February, I was so excited. I was jumping and clapping, like a kid again. I hope it is still around next February.
