What would be your best suggestion for a place to celebrate a special occasion with your spouse/SO?

I assume we are talking WDW, here, and then it would depend on how much you are wanting to spend. The most romantic is Victoria and Albert's. I have seen people proposed to there, and the setting is just beautiful. There is also Citrico's, Shula's. Also, what kind of food are you looking for. Obviously the more expensive restaurant, the less likely you will find large family groups (nothing wrong with large family groups, just not very romantic with a lot of noise at the table next to you). Oh, then there is Jiko's. Personally, I love a table for two by the window in Ohana's.

Just curious to people's favorites - we have done 'Ohana, Artist Point, Citricos, & California Grill. Haven't tried V&A yet - might give it a shot - anyone ever done the Chef's table there?

I think the best place might be Churro Cart 3 out by fantasyland but what do I know, I never get a date. Seriously though, I think it would probably be out at World Showcase's Italian restaurant, that place seemed real nice.

I vote for The Flying Fish on the Boardwalk. My favorite food in WDW and great service. Then you can walk around on the Boardwalk or go in the back entrance to Epcot.

My vote is for Ohana's at Poly during wishes. They dim the lights & pipe in the music. You can enjoy the fireworks while you eat.

My favorite for a romantic dinner has to be California Grill on the 15th floor of the Contemporary Resort. I also have a great reason why:
On July 18, 2003, it was where I proposed to my wife.
The whole event was set up in advance, the ring was sent to the restaurant earlier in the day, and the wait-staff and managers were all in on it. Our seating time was about 30 minutes before the Magic Kingdom fireworks, giving us time to have an appetizer and a drink (I needed one to steady my nerves!) before the show. When the announcement was made for the fireworks, I "asked" the waiter if it was okay for us to watch them from the balcony. He assured us it would be fine, so we headed out on the north observation deck, where the restaurant had cleared a spot for us all the way at the far end, overlooking the Magic Kingdom. That had to be the most perfect place to see the show I've ever experienced. When the pause came right before the finale, I told her that I had a surprise for her. Two waiters and a mangager from the restaurant had walked up behind us, holding a covered platter. When she turned around, the manager said, "Excuse me, Miss, but our chef has prepared a special surprise for you tonight." With that, he removed the cover, and there on the plate was the engagement ring sitting on a pillow inside of Cinderella's glass slipper, which was surrounded by the words "Will you marry me?" written in chocolate. She immediately burst into tears while I removed the ring from the slipper, got down on one knee and repeated the message with the finale of the fireworks bursting overhead. Thankfully, she said yes, which the manager quickly announced to the scores of people who had come out of the restaurant to watch. A tremendous cheer went up from the crowd, as the waiters handed each of us a glass of champagne. After a few minutes for my wife to compose herself, we returned to our table amidst plenty of congratulations and pats on the back. While we had been outside, our table had been cleared and covered with confetti and an amazing display of roses. We were also presented with an engagement card that had been signed by the entire staff. It was, without a doubt, the most perfect experience I could have hoped for.
And that's why I think the California Grill is the most romantic restaurant in Walt Disney World. I guess I'm a little biased.

Our other favorite already mentioned in this forum is Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge. The changing ambient lighting, soft African music and AKL theme all add an air of romanticism to a wonderful restaurant with a fantastic menu.
Flying Fish, Narcoossee's, Citricos, Artist Point, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Bistro de Paris, Alfredo's, San Angel Inn and Coral Reef Restaurant are also on our list of great romantic dinner spots.
We didn't think Ohana was quite as romantic, because it was noisier with more children, and the food is served family style off skewers. Though delicious and filling, it's just not quite as elegant as some of the other resaturants.

If Disneyland you should try "The Blue Bayou". It is $$$ but it is well worth it. It has a nice environment inside, which has the Pirates of The Caribbean riding by.
