I personally would rather a good theme. Disney does well with both though. Rockin Roller Coaster and so on.

Both. Tower of Terror and Everest (minus the non-working Yeti) are just two great rides that prove that they can pull it off.

I have to agree about doing "both".. but if it came to just one or the other I'd definitely choose theme.

That's what really sets Walt Disney World above the other amusement parks (in my opinion). If I wanted just thrill I'd go to Cedar Point or something.. but they lack that specialness Walt Disney World offers. Take Pirates of the Caribbean - I'd hardly call that a thrilling ride. But because of its story telling and wonderful design it's by far one of the most exciting and fully entertaining rides I've ridden.. from queue line to the actual ride itself!

Expedition Everest is one of the neatest rides Disney has to offer. I absolutely love the queue line - and might hold it as one of the best. Then the ride itself is pretty cool because.. well, I'm sure you've seen videos.

A ride that just drops you 20 stories in the middle of nothing is not enjoyable for me at all but I will ride ToT over and over and over because it is an experience.

This is a good question for anyone, not just the Disney savvy. I think anyone on this forum would answer "Theme". I would have to say theme parks are more of an experience. I don't know if I would ever want to go to an amusement park just for thrill rides again.

I have to say, After Disney or AD no pun intended. lol It is hard to enjoy a ride that is just for a thrill.

WDW is about a thrilling as I like. ToT, RnR, Everest - great thrills, but certainly not as crazy as some the the rides at six flags, or even Universal. That said, Disney theming is, to me, what sets them way apart. I love the theming at WDW - that's what brings me back. My 11yo DS is the same.

Hahaha Riverside. Haven't been out this way in a while? It has been six flags for many many years now. (I do still call it Riverside too.)

Why can't it be both? I love Disney for the themed rides and parks like Universal because of their thrill rides. I would pick Disney most every time, but every now and then I want some good roller coasters!

Probably 20 years! Heck, I remember Paragon and Lincoln Park!

I will admit that as an Ohio native I love thrill rides. Sometimes all you need is a giant drop on a fast roller coaster. It goes so fast, theming is an afterthought, really.

What I'd like to see from Disney is more rides like Everest - nicely themed but still pretty intense.

I have yet to ride Everest. I hear great things from it though.

I did the lunch with an imagineer at the studios a few years ago and we were all discussing this topic, the imagineer made it quite clear they take a lot of pride in theme of their attractions, every last part and that's what sets them apart.
