Quite alot, actually. Also the problem that lego isn't really that sturdy so it can't support much of any weight. Some time ago the BBC had a TV show where a guy named James May built different things from old toys (plasticene, erector sets, lego). One of the shows was building a house entirely from LEGO. The ability for those tiny bricks to support much weight was a major issue for that project.Jacca5660 wrote:I wonder how long and how much it would be to build my own bench at home??

He eventually did get it built though, but if I recall the government wouldn't allow people to enter since it was so unstable.

Then it wouldn't be made 100% of LEGO's, would it? Anyway, you can watch this crazy show on YOUTUBE:figmentaholic wrote:couldnt he use legos around something more stable, like legos around plaster and rebar and stuff??

well it sounds like it would be impossible to build it out of 100% legos, so why not make it more stable by using other items to make it practical?

Re: LEGO Store reopens
Because it wouldn't be made out of 100% legos and it was for charity (if I recall).
It's like the fake wedding cakes they make where the bulk of it is styrofoam and plastic with a small section for real cake, for the cutting. It's more practical to do that and serve a non-sculpted cake (secretly out of the kitchen) but that would be cheating (or at least less classy if you could afford the real thing) and you should save cheating for the marriage itself.

Anyway to get back to the lego house I believe he was supposed to stay the night in it but health and safety put a stop to that, however he and the camera crew were allowed to enter the building and wandered round showing shots of the furniture and things inside all built out of lego.

My son will be thrilled that it is now open. His big decision will now be to spend his money at the Lego store, or on more Vinylmations...

Lego has always been very cool but always a bit on the expensive side. I am just trying to figure out how I am going to fit in time and money to go to the new LegoLand next year.

I have not visited Lego Land. I do enjoy Lego's though. I still have all my Lego's from my childhood. Hoping my kids will get the same creativity out of them.

I remember LEGO land when I traveled in Europe, but never had the time for it (rather go to DLP instead)...
