Any advice on planning a big family trip to Disney for 5 days? 2 kids and 8 adults all together!

If your group can swing it, stay at either one of the resorts that is within walking distance of Epcot or on the monorail's list of stops. That way you can get to most parks rapidly and possibly without needing a bus. You may need to check about dining reservations as well if you want to dine as a single group.

First off welcome to the site!

I think the most important aspect that comes to mind when planning this trip is what resort/hotel grouping you want to stay at. Following that, you get to choose which resort in that category has the best location or theming that meets your party's needs. The best thing I could think of with this broad idea is to get organized. You are dealing with 8 adults and it could be tough. Your party may end up splitting into smaller groups to go about the parks in different ways so you might only meet up for meals.

Once you have the basics figured out in terms of resort and dates, book the vacation and get onto the dining. If you plan on eating dinners at the parks you should try to schedule it around the Extra Magic Hours. Dining reservations are a must have, especially for a party of your size!

Welcome!

How old are the kids?
What time of year are you going?
Try to find out everyone's expectations before hand. Is everyone willing to split up, or do they want to stick together? Does everyone like rides? Staying on property could definitely help as you would have plenty of transportation options that would allow people to separate. If you have mostly couples we have found it nice for everyone to split up to have their own nice little romantic dinner at least once, Especially in Epcot.
Large groups can be stressful but they can also be tons of fun!

If you are all wanting to stay together or at least close...you might want to look into renting DVC points to get a 2-3 bedroom villa. This would allow you all to be together and save money. But...you very well might want to all have your own rooms and not care about costs.

The adults would probably like the Poly the best and the kids would like the Contemporary. Both would put you on the monorail and would put you with a relatively short travel distance to and from all of the parks.

We did a family trip a few years ago with 10 of us (4 kids, 6 adults), and we stayed at one of the 3 bedroom villas at the Old Key West resort. Old Key West rooms are a bit bigger than some of the other DVC accomodations, for what it's worth.

I was thinking OKW too, Brian. I'm wondering if drumcorpsfan96 is planning on multiple rooms or looking to all stay together.

how old are the kids? that can be a huge factor as well...make sure everyone know who they are going to sit with on rides...especially those with an omnimover track that is always moving, this way you dont get rushed onto the rides and have the "i wanted to ride with that person fiasco!" lol

That who-is-riding-with-who business applies to the adults as well. :)

You could always just drug them, leave them asleep in the hotel and go have fun all week. :D
