Any live cams at Disney?

Post by kosmosworld » Mar Wed 23, 2011 10:30 am

Here in New Orleans, we have live cams that broadcast over the internet (Bourbon Street). From time to time, I'll search to see if there is a cam in Disneyworld. I think I saw one from one of the resorts, but not in the parks. Does anyone know if there is one that streams video from the parks? I remember reading somewhere that Disney had one at the main entrance a while back.

I believe there was one years ago. Disney does not have any, however you might be able to catch one or two that a guest may put up out their window from their room.

There was one at the Swan/Dolphin up until a few months ago. It is offline now, but this is the link

Here's a current live one from the Beach Club Villas. This channel seems to have a web cam running pretty often from different resort locations. I loved it when they had MK view rooms at Polynesian and at Contemporary.

Here's their site for more information - http://www.eyesonears.com/ .

You're welcome! It's kind of funny how interesting just watching people walk around their resort can be. I just wonder where they're going and what they've been doing. :)

Apparently it's a lot of different people from their community that do the streaming, but with a lot of these streams they seem to go offline at night. If they've got a MK view room, they'll pretty much always wait until after Wishes, but I think they know that it's harder to see in the dark, there's less activity then anyways, and they want a little privacy when they're in the room.

Thanks, Poly P. I can't get on it where I work because they block streaming video, but I can't wait to check that out when I get home.

You're welcome! It doesn't seem to be online yet today, and since it says they started streaming 7 days ago we might have just caught them on the tail end of their vacation. :( But maybe they're just sleeping in this morning and it will be on soon.

Am I the only one who kind of thinks it's creepy that people could be video recording you and broadcasting it to the world without your knowledge? I understand that it's not illegal in public spaces where the SJC ruled one has no expectation of privacy and that most of these cams just capture mundane happenings (i.e. people walking by) but still. There are cameras everywhere now- they're in stores, they're on public transportation, they're at intersections, and in office buildings; they are everywhere. I understand the need, or at least the desire for many of those aforementioned cameras by their owners i.e. security, and even that kind of creeps me out but the thought of some stranger setting a camera in a window and recording me without my knowledge is just that much worse.

People are such voyeurs and now with technological advances it's just easier for voyeurism to be executed. It's one thing for the exhibitionist society who post their entire day's agenda on Facebook or Twitter and "check in" at every place they go, or to an extreme reality "stars"; they want to be the center of voyeuristic attention, but what about the everyday Joe? I realize that these Disney cams are essentially harmless in and of themselves, but there's no gaurantee as to what they'll capture. And it's not just these Disney ones it's just people everywhere doing stuff like this; we're just allowing privacy to be stripped away layer by layer whether it's at an airport security terminal or walking your dog.

I certainly can't deny that! It's too bad those cams don't work at my desk.
