When will the build a 5th park?

Animal Kingdom was 1998 so this has been the longest period without a new theme park since disney world opened. Do you think they will still build more or just keep adding to and updating the 4? I think I couldnt possibly imagine something more exciting than if Disney would build a new theme park in orlando. They should build a DisneySea park in America. Or maybe a california adventure style park. What do you think?

It would be amazing to have another park to look forward to, however, I think them dropping quite a bit of $$$ on the Fantasyland Expansion and the Art of Animation hotel AND the Hyperion Wharf project proves that nothing will be in the works for at least another 3 years.

And who knows what other expansion/renovation plans they have in the wings after that! With the current economy, to even contemplate building another park right now just wouldn't be on the table.

at any rate, if and when they do, i see them going more for the california adventure style of park. i think a park of this nature would eliminate the need to go to universal for a day or two during your orlando stay. they seem to have been trying to fit in more amusement park style (or thrill) rides in the last few years to try and compete. this would seem an easy choice and would probably lighten up the wait times at the few offered thrill rides in each individual park considerably.

That does seem to be a market share that they might wish to attract ~ the thrill seekers from other parks...

Or they could always go with the DisneySea format or something similar that could be made to be like their own IoA.

We can only dream and wish that they would build something similar to DisneySea
Please, oh please give us a domestic version of Aquatopia and Journey to the Center of the Earth

As much as we all want to see a new gate, I think it will be a long time before we see anything. It seems like TDO right now is trying to work with what is already there. I think after the Fantasyland Expansion we will be seeing major improvements to either EPCOT or DHS or maybe even both. The parks are in need of some major TLC and it is good to see things starting. Also keep in mind (as posted earlier) the Art of Animation Resort. Like it or hate it, Disney is finally doing something with those empty shells. I wouldn't be completely surprised if we start hearing strong rumors of a 5th gate happen once EPCOT and DHS get some work done.

I agree, but I also believe the economy has to improve and the tourism industry revived into a boom again before they would consider adding another park. If they haven't gotten the numbers to support adding another park, there's no reason for them to move forward with sinking the money and adding the debt for something that can't recover those costs.

I do hope it TDO does wait until they do some work on EPCOT and DHS. With regards to EPCOT, Imagination needs to be fixed, Energy is long overdue for an update, Spaceship Earth's ending is severly lacking, Test Track could use a refresh, Wonders of Life sits barren, and there is still room for more countries in World Showcase. They've done a good job with Canada, Mexico, the addition of Soarin, and the first half of Spaceship Earth (though I do miss the previous SSE and the original Mexico ride). Lets keep that magic coming for EPCOT.

It does seem like EPCOT has the longest "honey-do" list of all the theme-parks, doesn't it?

They will probably need a scenario like the 90's where there was about 5+ years of a strongish econ behind them when they opened with a strong predicted future.
So you can have your new park when they get the money, please make your cheques payable to the Walt Disney Company...

...as well as sign over the equity in your home, list them as the sole beneficiary on your life insurance, etc. because it would take every nickel and dime...

Do you work for Saddleback Church?
A coworker of mine use to work there and apparently they will take cash, checques (personal, cashier's, or travelers), property, you can have your 401k pay directly to them, stocks, bonds, or anything else that has a monetary value.

That would be real nice to see. All the photos from DisneySea have made me jealous that it's only in Japan.
