Jan 14, 2011

The brand new castle projection show, 'The Magic, The Memories and You!', part of the 'Let the Memories Begin' campaign, will begin nightly from January 19 2011. Shows will begin 20 minutes prior to Wishes, with the first shows this week beginning at 7:40pm (8pm Wishes). The show runs for around 10 minutes, and will use up to 500 images taken by Disney PhotoPass during the day, projected onto the castle using high-intensity projectors. I thought it said it was taking the photos from PhotoPass at the parks?

It said above "500 images taken by Disney PhotoPass during the day" but maybe there's a way to send them in their website. I thought they finding a new way to get more people to use the PhotoPass option at the parks.

Hmmm, that is what it says. Maybe what they are talking about in the commercials is something else?

hmmmm, depending on how flattering the picture is, it may be neat to have a picture of the castle momentarily belonging to my family. then again, as photo-cooperative as my older son has been on these last 2 trips they probably won't be putting us up there anyway. then there's also the issue of us typically doing alot of our photopass at this park in the morning not the evening. the problem w/ this is we always switch parks after the afternoon nap. so we would not be here in the evening to see our potentially posted pic. i wonder if they take pics for this show from all of wdw, or just the day's photopassing at mk? anyone know?

I would presume all of WDW, as no other park is doing a projection show like the MK. I just wonder who's job it is to sort through all those photos and pick the 500 to use each day?

I would guess it is more of a random process. There would be thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of photos taken each day

But if they don't look, then how do they find the funny photos to put on the collective fridge? :D

Projection was a little choppy. Hopefully they can work out the bugs in time for actual guests to see this.
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

My stupid plug-in is unresponsive...again :( (Apple and I are going to have a talk in a few days  )
I hope to be able to see this show soon, but I just can't imagine how clear the photos could be if they are projected onto a lumpy, bumpy, spire-y castle :?

It looks like they have a screen installed above the castle gate entrance. Please tell me this is temporary and not permanent?

Ok, I finally got to see the show and I must confess, I like it! I love how they can change the look of the castle so much with the projections  I was a little confused to see Casey Junior featured so prominately in WDW though :?
I wonder if some of the show elements will remain consistent night after night. For example the little girl blowing out the candles is pretty specific to what happens on the castle afterwards.
The person singing the main song sounds very much like the person that performed the Destiny exit music for Mission Space. Does anyone know if it is the same singer?

I would guess it is permanent as long as this show is playing. I am curious to see a daytime photo and see how well it blends in though. I know when I was traveling in Europe they had castles that were undergoing renovations and the scrims that they had over the castles were printed to look exactly like what was underneath. I would think Disney would do pretty well at that themselves if they choose to do so ;)
