Going to WDW in January for our Honeymoon!!

Post by blue15os2004 » Dec Wed 15, 2010 10:22 am

We are going to WDW in last January for our honeymoon. We are spliting our two weeks between the polynesian and animal kingdom villa. Any suggestions on different things we should do? Places to eat? Shows? or Extras?

Congrats!

DW and I honeymooned there this past August and it was fantastic!

Here are some podcasts that I listened to that had to do with honeymooning: http://www.wdwtoday.com/search.php?quer ... ode=search

Here are some for romantic things to do: http://www.wdwtoday.com/search.php?quer ... ode=search

I would suggest taking your time...and spend lots of time in World Showcase just walking around the countries...because it is the most romantic place at WDW. One evening do a resort hop via the monorail. So...start out at MK...then take the monorail to the Contemporary and spend 30 minutes to an hour there. Then take the monorail to the Poly and spend some time walking around it and maybe even spend some time at the beach. Then ride on over to the Grand Floridian and spend some time there. After that take the monorail back to MK and enjoy the fireworks.

Also...try to spend a day or so just going to the different resorts and walking around them. It is romantic and gives you the Disney feeling without being in the parks. We loved the Port Orleans resorts to walk around...as well as Animal Kingdom Lodge. The Epcot resorts are easy to walk around too.

Hope you have a blast!

while at animal kingdom lodge, definitely have dinner at the boma buffet. i would also take advantage of this:
For a truly unforgettable experience, make reservations for the Wanyama Safari. Enjoy up-close encounters with the Resort's wildlife, followed by a delectable South African feast at Jiko - The Cooking Place.
that was taken from: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resort ... dom-lodge/
now, i don't know what it currently entails, this used to be a breakfast/morning encounter, you'll have to call and find out before you go. either way, this is something exclusive and unique (to see these animals safari style) at your resort. not to be confused w/ the entertaining yet somewhat phony safari ride at animal kingdom. here, they will actually take you driving thru their safari and stop as they encounter these animals answering questions and giving you time for pictures. no, no lions or dangerous animals, just the ones listed walking around akl, but a very singular and unique opportunity to add to your honeymoon memories (not many people have had the pleasure/privilege to do this). worth thinking about, if only for bragging rights, otherwise... this may sound dumb, but there's something fun about going to the grand floridian (one of your monorail stops when you're staying at the poly) and having afternoon tea and cakes at their garden view tea room. especially for you, i think there's something very wedding-ish about this http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/d ... ant.ID=305 i really like the sally lunn bread, but it's all really good, and strangely fun. congratulations and have a great time.

Sanaa is the BEST. Since you're staying at the Villas, be sure to treat yourself to room service one night. It's from Sanaa. You can eat while watching the animals from your balcony.

Good for you! You will have a great time! Try to hit the wilderness lodge resteraunt. Its a great place. Kids can have little stickhorse races while you dine. (CUTEST thing i've ever seen!) It has great food and even better staff.
Is it your first time? (I have my lecture ready...)

No we have been before but only staying in moderate resorts......so I am very excited about our "upgrade"!! We do have different experiences planned but not the safari yet, but i was looking into it. We have a photograph session that we were given for our shower. I think we are going to try and schedule this at the poly resort because of the different backgrounds we could have. We have parisailing, and ears, and golfing and all sorts of good stuff that we received for our showers to do! We have made some dining reservations for the first week but are unsure of really planning out the second as we would like to just be spontanious.

Congratulations! It sounds like you will have a wonderful time. How great that you got such nice gifts for your showers as well :D

I'll put a spin on that one...because it's a honeymoon...

plan EVERYTHING...
so you CAN wing it

Because I planned everything we were going to do for my honeymoon at WDW...we were able to relax and wing it half the time we were there. When we didn't feel like watching Illuminations one night...we decided not to...and did something else...then came back to catch it on another night. It's always better to over plan and then cross things out once you get there.

Also...take advantage of relaxation breaks whenever you can. Those times can turn out to be the ones you remember the most because they are relaxing moments with your spouse.

Man...this is making me want to go back RIGHT NOW...minus the insane crowds of course.

i have to agree w/ everybody on this one. it is unfortunate that you have to schedule on vacation, but these days w/ the free dining so regularly offered, you must, or miss out. i would hesitate on leaving the 2nd have of your trip to chance. you will find it much more relaxed (and worry free) if you do as stated and "schedule" your "free" days in between your reservation days. it's a real downer having to eat quick service because there's no openings to be had at table service. i think this feeling of disappointment would be even more strongly felt on something as momentous as a honeymoon.
