Christmas Must-Do's at the Resorts?

Post by wewantsdaredhead » Oct Thu 28, 2010 12:16 pm

OK, WDW Resort Vets...
We're headed down at Christmastime this year--a first for us. We're experienced at WDW, but never at Christmas.
:D
I have some time set aside to visit a few of the resorts that decorate for the holidays because I have heard they go all out.
My question is:
Which resort lobbies do I HAVE TO visit?? What are my "not-to-be-missed"?

We're staying at POR, so obviously we'll see that (if there's anything to see) but I have a soft spot for Christmas and how people decorate and I can't wait to wander around property and see it all!

Help me out, SubSonic-ers--what are your suggestions?

Thanks!

I have not experienced any of the resorts during Christmas, however, I have heard that the Wilderness Lodge is AMAZING during Christmas. I'm thinking about visiting it this year myself!

I have heard this also---I have never set foot in there at all, so I think this one goes on the list.

Thanks!!

The 2 mentioned above are definitely Must-Dos (Wilderness Lodge and Grand Floridian), the next ones I would say classify as "Not to be missed" are the 3 in the Epcot/Boardwalk area (Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Clubs) as they also participate in the "decorations that you can eat" similar to the Grand Floridian. Not sure if you want us to give away what they do so I'll just leave it at that.

Doesn't the Contemporary also do a huge Gingerbread House scene in the lobby???

No! Don't spoil it for me ;)

And that works out well at the Boardwalk area--we have an ADR there---thanks!

The giant house is only at Grand Floridian.

I may be strange, but I like doing the Winter Summerland mini-golf around Christmas. It's fun all year, but the music and the decorations get you in the spirit.

I third that - the decorations, the smells and the holiday music. Don't miss it.

I would say that you can't go wrong trying to see as many of the lobbies as possible. Especially the deluxe resorts. AKL also has a great display for the holidays.

Definitely Fort Wilderness at night. (Day may work too?) POR (as I recall) just sported a big Christmas tree and some other tidbits. There was a point where Minnie showed up at the tree for signings. We didn't really venture to the other resorts.

You can see a few things from a special that was on HGTV last year...

I never thought of FW--but I remember seeing something on the `net about people going all out over there---thanks for reminding me! :)
