First Fast Pass of the Day?
I'm trying to plan out what Fast Passes to get at each park each morning while going to ride another popular ride but it's been 3 years since my last trip and I know that the crowds at some rides will have changed.
This is what I have so far, I'd love your opinions.
Magic Kingdom: No idea but we'll be getting on Dumbo first
Epcot: Soarin Fast Pass while we go to Test Track
Hollywood Studios: Toy Story Mania Fast Pass
Animal Kingdom: Expedition Everest Fast Pass so we can ride Kilamajaro Safari

per magic kingdom, space mountain was closed for quite awhile (lengthy rehab) and it also recently received some enhanced audio. if you like this one, it may be a good one to consider, or peter pan, winnie pooh get pretty backed up at times too.

Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
MK: Space Mountain (you can ride standby and then come back around later and use FastPass)
DHS: Toy Story Mania (ride this as soon as you get to the park...because standby lines in the morning will be shorter than FastPass lines later in the day)
Epcot: Soarin' (this ride is awesome...but not worth the standby wait if it is over an hour...so FastPass is a must)
AK: Expedition Everest (again...get the FP...then ride standby because you want to ride this multiple times)
If the crowd level is up, you won't even be able to ride Toy Story Mania in the afternoon/evening through the standby line. This happened on my last trip. EVERYONE got FP for this in the morning, so when they came back later in the day the FP return line was about an hour. It was ridiculous and made me upset that I didn't ride it earlier that morning when the standby was only 45 minutes.

These are some good tips. I hadn't even thought of planning out fastpasses! Oh, I am so unprepared for vacation...other than I really, really need one!theBIGyowski wrote:MK: Space Mountain (you can ride standby and then come back around later and use FastPass)

Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
I thought the point of a vacation was to enjoy it.
Anyway, even though I tend to stay far away if it's peak season the advice I always hear is get the FP for a popular ride right at the opening, then go on it in standby and come back later in the day (even if the pass has expired) since most of the time they will accept them.

Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
I'm planning on having a relaxing vacation (Isn't that an oxymoron? Planning to relax?) but I do want to get FP that go fast. We won't be there at peak time, we are arriving in 11 days but I know the parks won't be dead.Wizzard419 wrote:I thought the point of a vacation was to enjoy it.

Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
If you get to Epcot early enough, you may not need a fastpass for Soarin'. I got there for the rope drop one morning and went over to the Land for some breakfast and to grab a fastpass for Soarin'. I grabbed the the FP and some breakfast. I had the same plan as you. I was going to head over to Test Track and then maybe SSE and then back to burn the FP on Soarin'.
When I finished breakfast I noticed the standby for Soarin' was only 15 minutes. So I went on that then went over and did Test Track and SSE and came back to do Soarin' again! I thought about selling my FP to the highest bidder when I came back. The sand by line was over an hour at that point!

Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
if by 11 days you mean an arrival on the 24th, you'll get there just under the wire... pooh will still be open on this day! hooray for you, bummer for me. i arrive on the 27th, my whole trip will be winnie free, as well as no tea cups (which my oldest son loves) so i'll be trying to make double explanations every time we pass those rides. great.LITTLEBIT wrote:I didn't even think about Space Mountain! We get there on the 23rd but don't go into the parks until the 24th and not to MK until the 26th. As long as Dumbo is open, it will make up for the other rides being closed.nicklesm17 wrote:if by 11 days you mean an arrival on the 24th, you'll get there just under the wire... pooh will still be open on this day! hooray for you, bummer for me. i arrive on the 27th, my whole trip will be winnie free, as well as no tea cups (which my oldest son loves) so i'll be trying to make double explanations every time we pass those rides. great.LITTLEBIT wrote:I didn't even think about Space Mountain! Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
is this a scheduling choice? otherwise i'd say this is an awfully good argument for next time buying the park hopper. this will be our first trip to wdw ever that we didn't bounce w/ tigger. they just announced this rehab recently... not like i'd change my trip time over it, but it makes me feel a little better (when the kids give me the business) to honestly be able to put the blame on wdw.LITTLEBIT wrote:We get there on the 23rd but don't go into the parks until the 24th and not to MK until the 26th. Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
We have park hoppers, and could technically go over to MK earlier but we have an animal lover with us and it's his first time so we are going to AK the first day, and then Epcot the 2nd to take advantage of later hours there so I can see illuminations which I haven't seen in years and really want to see.nicklesm17 wrote:is this a scheduling choice? otherwise i'd say this is an awfully good argument for next time buying the park hopper. this will be our first trip to wdw ever that we didn't bounce w/ tigger. they just announced this rehab recently... not like i'd change my trip time over it, but it makes me feel a little better (when the kids give me the business) to honestly be able to put the blame on wdw.LITTLEBIT wrote:We get there on the 23rd but don't go into the parks until the 24th and not to MK until the 26th. Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
ya, my older son is the same way about ak. i never used to care for that park, but now we seem to spend equal, if not more time there than any of the others. it sounds like you scheduled yourself out pretty well, but i'll offer this anyway on the chance you're still in wdw, didn't know, and/or circumstances allow you to change your schedule. friday the 29th is a magic hours night at ak. yes, you are restricted to rides... there's not much animal action as most have been put away for the night at their regular times. however, there's something really cool about this place at night. perhaps it's just the fact that you can never see it after dark (usually a 5pm closing). if only for an after dark pic of your family in front of the lit up tree of life, or the glow of mount everest, it's worth it. there are plenty of rides open (tricera top spin is similar to dumbo) all with little to no wait at all, but the real fun here is just the difference of appearance the twilight and then dark makes. if you're into shows, festival of the lion king (at camp minnie-mickey) "premiers" tonight at 6pm as well. so, they don't do these hours very often here, only once my whole trip. if your interested remember you won't get a 2nd chance. maybe schedule it in?LITTLEBIT wrote:We have park hoppers, and could technically go over to MK earlier but we have an animal lover with us and it's his first time so we are going to AK the first day, and then Epcot the 2nd to take advantage of later hours there so I can see illuminations which I haven't seen in years and really want to see.

Re: First Fast Pass of the Day?
I first found out about the evening magic hours through the Disney at night photograph thread...it was one of the first things I checked when I finally got my hands on a park hours schedule. There is only one night when we will be there that AK will be open late. That was one of the few things that I put on the "must do" schedule. I want to get some pictures there in the darknicklesm17 wrote:...friday the 29th is a magic hours night at ak. yes, you are restricted to rides... there's not much animal action as most have been put away for the night at their regular times. however, there's something really cool about this place at night. perhaps it's just the fact that you can never see it after dark (usually a 5pm closing). if only for an after dark pic of your family in front of the lit up tree of life, or the glow of mount everest, it's worth it. there are plenty of rides open (tricera top spin is similar to dumbo) all with little to no wait at all, but the real fun here is just the difference of appearance the twilight and then dark makes. if you're into shows, festival of the lion king (at camp minnie-mickey) "premiers" tonight at 6pm as well. so, they don't do these hours very often here, only once my whole trip. if your interested remember you won't get a 2nd chance. maybe schedule it in?

Do you know if there is anywhere to check to see which attractions are actually up and running during either early or late magic hours?
EDIT: Ok, I've found a few places online that list which attractions are operating during EMH ~ is it always the same or do they change what is open based on attendance? Also, is it marked on the guide map for easy reference or can you inquire at the resort?
