Spectromagic or The Electric Light Parade?

Post by Debbiedeb » Oct Sun 10, 2010 6:20 pm

Which MK light parade do you prefer, Spectromagic or The Electric Light Parade?

I have to choose the Electric Light Parade, although I love them both for different reasons.

I'll always be a Spectro girl. I worked on both Spectro and ELP during the late 90s at the MK, so I can even compare the costumes and amount of work each one puts on the performers and support CMs. I can even remember seeing Spectro for the first time in 1991 and thinking there was no way it could possibly be better than ELP and by the time the parade was over I had to admit I was wrong; I liked Spectro more. :D

I liked them both, not one more than the other. But in some ways, I find them both disappointing because they're SHORTER than their counterparts. I loved MSEP until I went to DLR and found out they have the same parade but with more floats than WDW. All these years later the only way to get the longer parade was to send it from DLR to WDW. Spectromagic was cool, but I saw Fantillusion and it seemed longer than Spectro. Now TDL has TDLEP Dreamlights, and it far outdoes all the other electrical parades. It always seems like WDW is the "step-child" with the electrical parades - as if because it is already a cash cow, we can save some $ and skimp on it at WDW...

This is a tough one.....ELP was amazing to watch as a child, but there is something about Spectromagic. Watching the faces of my wife and children during their first trip in 2004 as Spectromagic rolled through was amazing. The ELP music will always bw something special to me, but I think at this point without having seen ELP since it came back this summer, I am going to have to go Spectromagic.....

It's been so long since I've seen MSEP, I would have to see that again before I cast my vote.

I grew up with the Electrical Parade, so it'll always be my favorite. Not too fond of the current soundtrack they're using right now, or the fact that they got rid of the Blue Fairy, though.

Each parade gets "better" with new technology and improvements. Spectro is superior to the MSEP in that regards, while TDL EP Dreamlights is far superior to Spectro. Having seen video of Dreamlights, I think its time for Spectro to get an overhaul.

SpectroMagic has always been my favorite out of all the parades in WDW. The lights and costumes are just so beautiful!

I'm going with Electric Light Parade. It's one of earliest memories of the MK.

I'm still bitter about the Blue Fairy too. There was always something about see her "float" down the route leading the parade. I guess her kind of "fairy" isn't popular anymore. :( It's all about Tink and her friends now...

Does anyone think that Tink's float in the parade looks like it was recycled with slapped-together bits from the defunct Light Magic?

We never got to see Light Magic (though we really like the music), but we have seen some pictures of it. I kind of agree with you on that one Mindflipper. It does somewhat resemble the look from LM.
