Spectromagic appears to be on a break/refurbishment for unknown duration and the main street electrical parade is playing in it's place with no end in sight.

It's kind of a bummer for us in So Cal, supposedly the parade will never return to Disneyland, only place it is allowed to go is DCA.

As far as I know it's still MSEP until further notice.

That's because Diz has tooooo big of an ego to ever admit they made a mistake. They've tried to erase "Light Magic" - the MSEP replacement for Disneyland - like it never happened. To bring back to Disneyland the MSEP would be admitting a huge mistake, so that's why they'll only do it as DCA now...

Why, Mindflipper! How cynical and probably accurate of you to say that!

Actually, that explanation was given to me by two different cast-members when I was out at DLR. So it seems to be popular...

I believe it. Hence the subtle subscript....

Yes, and hence the awful name change of the parade too!!! Sorry, it will always be MSEP to me...not "Disney's Electrical Parade"!!!
Ok, back on topic...the last rumor I heard was that MSEP is "on loan" for 2 years to WDW while DCA finishes it's refurb. I haven't heard anything about Spectromagic though. I can't believe they'd let it sit for 2 years without doing anything to it...or letting it be performed somewhere.
Maybe the lights will all be updated and controlled by solar power, and the floats will be run by clean burning natural gas...then Disney will receive LEED certification for making the parade "green"...

(sorry everyone...it's friday and my brain is doing strange things...)

I wonder if they are ever going to bring it back to DCA now that you mention that. Right now it's all walled up along various parts of the route, but there is no drastic need for a night parade anymore since World of Color is sucessful. That and I think the parade route has been chopped up (I've never watched a parade there but both options for the exit appear to have been taken away)

You have a point about World of Color being DCA's evening show now. They will need something when they finally take WoC down to really fix those platform bladders though. I would hope they won't leave the platforms raised forever in the lagoon

Once winter hours kick in they should be able to fix them without issue since the park closes at like 6pm. Unless they want to run it all year long, which they might since it's a "cheap" show to put on as (I haven't seen it yet) the only resources used are staff, electricty, and some propane/natural gas for the fire effects.

LOL! I thought the "environmentally-friendly" electrical parade idea was funny...

Thanks! I hoped someone caught on...
(not to say that I am not interested in being environmentally friendly....I
do recycle and use mass transit...among other things

)
