New Parade for DHS

Post by Len90 » Sep Thu 16, 2010 9:53 am

If you are a fan of Block Party Bash make sure you try an get to see it before Jan. 1. That will be the last performance of this parade as a new one is scheduled to start on Jan. 16. The parade is supposed to be Pixar inspired and will bring pixar characters from Ratatouille and Up. Here's the story from the Disney Parks Blog.

http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2 ... ks+Blog%29

My personal feelings will be a parade similar to the Block Party Bash. I would bet on having similar floats with a new sound track.

This is awesome news. While I liked the Block Party Bash, we picked a bad spot and got stuck in front of one of the trampolines. The kids got bored quickly as the characters weren't getting close to the acrobats. They love the PIXAR characters so I am glad they are adding more.

We've only ever made it to the Christmas parade at MGM.

Wait there are Parades in the Parks?????? I thought they just drove the recycled floats from the back of the parks to the front because they wanted to keep the motors working....... [\sarcasm]

NaCler I really wonder if they are swapping out some pixar characters with the change. I an happy that I finally got to see a full show this past July as ny two previous experiences were a drive by and a wet ground show. I was hoping tower it one more time to actually get a look at some of the different units during the show or even the acrobatic routine.

I honestly enjoyed the Block Party Bash and thought it was quite catchy. I just hope they come up with something better. As for the whole new parade, I think we would have heard about this 6 months ago.

You've got to leave the MK sometime!! With parades in the MK, they're also looking to see if the music system and lights are still working! ;+>

this is good news. i won't be catching it for nostalgia purposes this october. i have always thought this was the poorest parade offered. i have also always wondered why huge pixar hits like ratatouille, wall-e, and "up", have seen little to no character treatment at the parks, and what there was, was for a short time only. i hope this is the start of something that spreads to the other parks. i'd like to see the character's from ratatouille as regulars at the french pavillion in epcot. the wall-e character's could show at specific locations in every park but animal kingdom, likewise the "up" characters with opportunities everywhere except possibly epcot. i look forward to this for next years trip, and will definitely put time aside to see it. thanks for the heads up!

Good to know ~ I have never been one for watching the parades much though. My Mom really enjoyed the Block Party Bash (or something similar) when we saw it in DCA

We loved BPB when it was in DCA and were nervous when we learned that it was going to DHS and DCA was getting something else. Much to our surprise, Pixar Play Parade has really been a hit with us! (Be ye warned though...you will most likely get wet!)
It will be interesting to see the new parade though...

Personally, I miss Stars & Motorcars. That parade so perfectly fit the theme of the park. True, it didn't offer much in the way of guest interaction, but that could've been fixed easily enough. I'll reserve judgement on this new parade until I see it (if I ever do.)

Honestly, I've never seen the Block Party Bash at DCA during the years it was there. I never felt the need to see the parade. When it left, I was a little disappointed, but then heard it was going to re-appear at Studios. I was bummed because I really like Stars and Motorcars.

When I finally did get a chance to see Block Party Bash at Studios, I was underwhelmed. Yeah, there's a lot of energy and kids can dance off their lollipop/soda energy, but to me, the parade just didn't fit in with the Studios theming. The Stars and Motorcars featured a ton of characters, waving and dancing for everyone no matter where they stood because it kept moving along.

The floats for the Block Party have a lot of movement to keep your eyes and ears occupied for all of 3 minutes, but once the parade stops to 'party', you're stuck with that unit. You like Incredibles? Awesome, hopefully you're in the right place for them instead of A Bug's Life or Toy Story. And once the parade gets going, it's gone.

I'm glad they're getting rid of Block Party Bash and hopefully going with a more mobile parade like the Pixar Play Parade, which is currently at DCA, BTW, the working title of the new parade is "Pixar Pals Cavalcade" and will be using a new musical track from the PPP.

For those of you who want to see the BPB before it closes:

To make way for the new offering, the Block Party Bash parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will close effective Sunday, January 2, 2011. The final performance of Block Party Bash will be on Saturday, January 1, 2011. There will be no parade at Disney’s Hollywood Studios between January 2 and January 15, 2011.

Praise Mickey! I couldn't stand BPB and would go out of my way to avoid it! The Pixar one sounds like a real hoot though... can't wait to see it!

From some of the descriptions I have heard about BPB in DHS, I am wondering if there were a few changes made to it when the move was made. I guess we're kinda partial to it since we took our niece to see it and she had a blast...but I can also see how it doesn't fit with the theming of DHS. I agree that Stars and Motorcars was better for the theme. It will be interesting to see how the new parade will be presented. If it ends up like Pixar Play Parade, then it won't fit with the theming either.
