Anyone ever been to Victoria and Albert's?

Just curious, has anyone here ever been? I was thinking of going last time I was at WDW but was too warm and humid for me to even consider a coat and slacks for dining (and it was only May).
Any comparisons to other established places, such as Commader's Palace or French Laundry?

Yes, we went there on our Honeymoon about 10 years ago (we stayed at the GF, which made it easy to get to). Definitely a unique experience! We still have the menu some place...There were many courses, but small, and it included exotic things like duck and caribou. It was our first exposure to nouvelle cuisine, and also our last:). At the time we went, there was a harpist that provided entertainment (and he also played piano in the lobby in the evenings). It's certainly worth doing once, and maybe we'll do it again for our 25th anniversary or something:).

When you say "and also our last" is that because you didn't enjoy it? I'm a little confused by what seems like the conflicting comments about it being your first and last experience and then saying you may go again.

He probably meant "our last" in the sense that they haven't done anything like it since, possibly due to the expense.

And therein lies the rub: it is very expensive. We've researched it thoroughly because Mouseoholic (since you're new here, you may not yet know she's my wife... now you do...) would dearly love to go there, and we've almost gone several times in the last few years, but each time we decided that we simply couldn't afford it in light of all the other expensive ADR's we were also planning on each of those trips. The same is true for our upcoming trip in December. We almost booked a dinner there, but again decided against it because of all the other things we wanted to do on this trip, and just couldn't justify the expense. Maybe someday we'll go there after all. From all that we've heard, it is awesome (aside from the cost, of course).

I absolutely love Victoria and Albert's. I've been there 3 times already and each time is better than the last. I'm a bit of a foodie and live near NYC so I'm pretty darn lucky in that I have been to several awesome restaurants. Victoria and Albert's is still my favorite. I can't wait to go back. We are hoping to get the Victoria room this time.

Good to know, just out of curiosity, would anyone be able to say that what made the food/experience good was the based on the food itself or was it the chef's skill? It's an odd question but I've had both experiences (luxury ingredients average chef and normal ingredients and skilled chef) and I just want to see where V&A ranks.

I know people that have eaten there and loved it! But it was very expensive. They went on a night that they sent their children (old enough to go alone) out into the parks.

DH and I have always wanted to dine here but the menu seems a bit strange to us?! I should probably add this to the list of things we still have not done at WDW!
