wdw trip this oct/nov
we pretty much go the same 10 days every year, end of october thru early november. i certainly never enjoy it any less, or approach the upcoming flight w/ any less excitement. i'm sure everyone has a countdown going from the moment they actually book. what i think makes this trip never get stale is that in addition to those things you can count on always being there, there's also always new surprises. these days i just have to look a little harder for those surprises. awhile back i got some good suggestions for things to do at night. kind of the same question now, it doesn't necessarily have to be date specific, but for any of you oct/nov people it could be. there are somethings i especially look forward to. "my trip wouldn't feel complete if i didn't do this" kind of things. i'd be interested to hear what those things are for you. i bet alot of us like the same things, yet i'm sure some good over looked things will be offered up as well. what ever you've got, i'd appreciate if you could take a minute post it. thanks.

One thing that comes to mind for me is the mickey mouse rice krispie treat. I know that is something simple but I really do enjoy having this snack there.
I wonder if you might want to move this over to the trip/planning thread. You might get more people looking there...

ya amy, i've always made it a point to bring a mickey ears rice krispie treat home. i try to save it to keep the "magic" going even a couple days after the trip is over. sounds dumb, but we always send home a post card to ourselves too. winnie the pooh shortbread chocolate covered cookies, "chip and dale snack company" mickey mouse shaped pretzels, whatever it takes right? as far as trip planning, i'd rather keep it wdw specific. any way this may be not so much list, itinerary, ride, or event itself, as what you see or experience during it that makes it special or important to you. kind of like the rice krispie thing, i don't think you' ll find that one in trip planning.

you'll be there during the Epcot food & wine fest, right? That might be something to plan for.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Ok then, posting here makes sense!nicklesm17 wrote:ya amy, i've always made it a point to bring a mickey ears rice krispie treat home. i try to save it to keep the "magic" going even a couple days after the trip is over. sounds dumb, but we always send home a post card to ourselves too. winnie the pooh shortbread chocolate covered cookies, "chip and dale snack company" mickey mouse shaped pretzels, whatever it takes right? as far as trip planning, i'd rather keep it wdw specific. any way this may be not so much list, itinerary, ride, or event itself, as what you see or experience during it that makes it special or important to you. kind of like the rice krispie thing, i don't think you' ll find that one in trip planning.
Hmmm, I will think of some more things. It is hard to think since I have been to DL 3 or 4 times since I have been to WDW. I really am looking forward to seeing Spaceship Earth again, although I am a little nervous since it sounds like the "updates" haven't all been welcomed with open arms.
I like the sending a post card to yourselves thing. I might have to try that this trip

Re: wdw trip this oct/nov
the food and wine festival, other than the seemingly perfect weather we've encountered every trip at that time of year (hope i didn't just jinx us), is one of the main reasons we plan our trip for this time. we choose one night and set it aside for "tasting" our way around epcot. always finishing up in the france pavillion for one last showing of impressions of france, followed by a chocolate mousse, and crepe from the crepe vendor while sitting in that little square by the movie/giftshop exit. now that's a good night! unless it's overly crowded, this may be the highlite of the trip for me, for sure it's way up on the list of special things to do. now as far as dl, we were at dl for the 50th anniversary, i like it alot more than my wife (perhaps it's a nostalgia thing), she's all wdw. i can see the appreciation, alot of people say it's just a small scale wdw, not so, it is different than wdw. for those of us who grew up watching the wonderful world of disney on sunday night, i think this place is much more personal. it is (walt) disney, once again, it could be all in my head, but that's what i felt the whole time we were there. you can't put a price on that, or fairly compare it. now, spaceship earth? hope i don't get razzed, but i like the updated version better. we used to only hit it once out of seeming obligation. now, 2 or three times throughout the course of the trip. i esp. like the super-imposed photo at the end, pretty fun.

I liked DLR too. It just seemed extra special that Walt Disney himself roamed the streets, and had a personal touch in almost everything there! The smaller scale threw us off the first time we visited ~ I looked at the map, walked a little while checking where we were heading, and when I looked up from the map we were already at our destination!
Spaceship Earth is one of my favorite attractions. I'm glad to hear at least one positive opinion about the update
Mmmm, chocolate mousse in France. I might just have to try that in December
