Does anybody collect pins?

I'm not talking crazy pin collecting, like those people that open up a suitcase in front of the EPCOT fountains, just a having fun regular pin collecting person. I am one of those average pin collectors, I have been for years. I buy at least one or two pins every visit! Also, we have a Disney theme parks outlet here in Miami and I go there to buy random pins usually for $2 - $5 and bring those for trading with the CM's. All the new hidden Mickey pins are exciting! :mickey:

O.M.G.... You should see Mouseoholic's pin collection!
We always make it a point to collect pins for every resort where we stay, every ride we go on, and pins for each year and special event that we go to, etc. We have an entire wall in the hallway outside our bedroom dedicated to displaying her pins and so forth. I've promised to make her a giant Mickey-shaped shadow box to display them in, but I still haven't gotten around to it yet. I remember the trip where she first decided to start collecting pins, she had a handbag with a wide strap to put them on, and by the end of the trip that thing was covered in pins.
Here's a picture of it on the last day as we were leaving for the airport. you can only see the front; the pins continue all across the back and up the other side of it:

You should have seen the looks we were getting as we jingle-jangled our way through the airport with that thing. On every trip since then we haven't carried them with us though..... there's just too many.

I'll see if we can take a picture of her entire collection to date and post it.

I don't know if pin collectors will like that, but if Grateful Dead fans are "dead heads" - it does make sense...

Jimmy Buffett Fans (ME) are Parrot Heads. It just stands to reason.

Does that mean the Pin-Heads have to worry about showing up on Bill O'Reilly's Pinheads & Patriots?

That's quite a picture M-dude...it also appears that you are prepared to drag poor Mouse away before she buys even more...

I have a very small pin book that is full and we have gotten a few here and there, but we are such general collectors that we don't stick to just one thing (we're VERY eclectic people). We have some pins, some snowglobes, some ornaments, posters, pressed pennies...you name it. The problem is in the display. Most of our stuff is in boxes somewhere and not proudly displayed. That's a project that's been on my list for quite some time now...ah, someday...

I have a book that I keep my pins that you can no longer get in.
I also have a lanyard for trading which I carry with me on trips, I have not traded at all in the last few years, but all the CM's like a look as all my pins are small and traditional looking.

I tend to usually get at least one pin for every visit that we go on. I always make sure that I get the celebration logo pin and then after that I pick pins based on relation to me. My attraction pins are all of attractions that I am a huge fan of, and my resort pins are of resorts that I have personally stayed at. I currently have about 4 lanyards full of pins. I'll try and get around to posting a picture of my pin collection.

I will say this, those things have gone up A LOT in price. It seems that you have to spend now about $8 for a pin. It used to be around $6 on average.

I have a few, but they're pins of particular interest to me - like those of the Haunted Mansion Holiday. I have a pin of my avatar in fact.

I also have a few. Just a few I've been given or have caught my eye.

I got huge into pins a few years ago. I went to a couple of the pin events that they held at EPCOT. I used to go to weekly pin trading nights held at the St. Augustine outlet mall. After a while I just lost the passion, I guess. I started selling my pins on EBAY or just giving them away to friends. I still have quite a few but I have not purchased any in a long time. I really enjoyed the collecting and the interaction with the CM's but it is one VERY expensive hobby. Plus, I hated that most of the CM's starting walking away from me if they saw me coming towards them wearing a lanyard. Even if I was just going to ask them a question and not trade with them.

I couldn't agree more! This is why we started a small collection and have bought a few others in recent years, but have not continued in the hobby. Plus, when I buy a pin, it's one I really like and therefore do not want to give up or trade...oh well. I just bought an EPCOT 25th anniversary pin off EBay not too long ago that had Spaceship Earth and the monorail on it. That was the last pin I bought...not even any on our recent trip to DLR
