I vote for the Coronado Springs Resort. I like the food court that isnt really like a food court and I love the pool and the southwestern atmosphere. Its a large resort so try to stay in the Cabanas section which is near the pool and the main buildings. I love to lay in a hammock a night to see the reflection of the lights on the lake. Wish I was there now!
The Caribbean is my favorite moderate. It was the first moderate to be built, and if I remember correctly, it was intended at that time to be the "budget" resort. Since it was the first, the rooms are the biggest of all the moderates. It went thru renovation in the last couple of years and the rooms look beautiful. I also like the location.

I forgot about the renovation. I was scheduled to stay at Caribbean Beach Resort in November 2002. We made the reservations earlier in the year, but they called us and said that the resort was going under renovation and they moved us to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, for the same price, which was amazing.
We went back to the Caribbean Beach Resort in November 2004 and you're right, it was beautiful.

Port Orleans French Quarter for me. It's the smallest of the moderate resorts and therefore the most intimate. I love the theme and the area music. Gotta love that jazz!

For my next trip this November, my best friends parents decided that we're going to be staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter. Most recently, I've stayed at AKL and CBR. I loved both resorts extremely, but now I'm worried that this resort won't be the same. I've read about Port Orleans French Quarter online and in books, but do you think you could give me your own broad personal opinion of the resort?kgmadorin wrote:Port Orleans French Quarter for me. Cobbled together from various sources and my own opinions:Siriuslydead wrote: I've read about Port Orleans French Quarter online and in books, but do you think you could give me your own broad personal opinion of the resort?
With 1,008 rooms, Port Orleans French Quarter is the smallest of the moderate resorts, as compared to Coronado Springs at 1,967, Port Orleans Riverside at 2,048 and Caribbean Beach at 2,112 rooms. This significant size difference results in the resort feeling more intimate and less sprawling as a whole.
Intricate railings, cobblestone streets, gas lamps and lush courtyards of flowers capture the spirit and romance of New Orleans' French Quarter. Mature magnolia trees complete with hanging vines line many of the narrow streets, and fountains can be found in a number of small park-like areas nestled between the buildings. During the early morning and evening the resort is quite peaceful, which makes going for a stroll very pleasant. There is also a paved path running along the Sassagoula river that connects French Quarter with Port Orleans Riverside to the north.
The ornate theming is also evident in the architecture of the seven three-story buildings that contain the guest rooms. The buildings are painted in soft colors, and the metal railings re-create the style found in the real French Quarter. The only difference--and this is immediately evident if you've ever been to New Orelans--the Disney version is clean, safe, and attractive. It all adds up to a picturesque and nearly perfect Disney version of the Big Easy.
If you're hungry, try the Creole delicacies at the Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, a food court where you can dine around Mardi Gras Parade props in a warehouse setting. To cool off, plunge into Doubloon Lagoon, the fantastic themed swimming pool that features "Scales," a gigantic dragon water slide. Looking for a romantic after dinner activity? Every 10-20 minutes, The Sassagoula River Cruise departs from the dock behind the pool, allowing you to travel to the other resorts along the river and the Downtown Disney area.
My favorite time of day at French Quarter is after the sun has gone down and the gas lamps have been lit. Find a bench along the river to sit on, close your eyes and listen to the cricktets and bullfrogs singing along with the New Orleans jazz playing softly in the background. Ahhhh... the perfect end to a Disney day.
