Do you enjoy Typhoon lagoon? Better than Blizzard Beach?

Post by DisneyManInSeattle » Apr Thu 28, 2005 5:20 pm

Last Sept my wife and I went to typhoon lagoon (TL) for the first time -- boy did we enjoy it. The theming was way cool, much better than Blizzard Beach (BB). BB was more plastic feeling while TL is designed to be more tropical.

The best things for us is the creek around the park -- wow I don't think I've been able to relax like that anywhere else when being on vacation.

How do you rate the water slides in comparing BB and TL? We didn't do the big gusher at BB, but did do all the slides at TL. Really fun. I can't wait to try the new Crush N Gusher in June.

I'm from snow country so tropical is always nice! It has been years since I've been down there when TL is open but I liked it better than BB for the same reason - it seemed more relaxed.

We always went to TL and when BB opened up we gave it a try only to realize it's horrible in comparison.

Wow! This poll shocks me. Major publications always rate Blizzard Beach better than Typhoon Lagoon. Yet, I would have to agree with these poll numbers. I love Typhoon Lagoon for the atmosphere. The lush foliage and tropical theme appeal to me much more than the somewhat barren Blizzard Beach.

TL has great theming but the theme is like most waterparks for me - BB is whimsical and original - just love it! 8)

I like the idea of being able to swim with sharks at TL  . It's something I'm planning on doing next time I go down... :D

BB is whimsical and original
I do agree. The theming at BB is very unique and we had a couple of good laughs as well just how they integrated the theme with the rides -- like the chair lift.

The put-put golf is enjoyable to do later in the evening.

To everyone who hasn't visited a Disney water park yet: go as soon as you have a chance! It's an experience without peer in that business. If you're used to local, run of the mill water parks, the Disney versions will exceed every one of your expectations.

When you do visit, try to do so during an off-peak season. Unlike the theme parks, the water parks fill to capacity on almost every nice day during the summer months. You'll have a much better time when the water parks are a little less crowded.

I have been to Typhon Lagoon a ton of times. But I still have yet to go to Blizzard Beach. We went one time, but we had to leave right away for some reason I don't remember. But, I feel that I like the tropical theming a lot better than the BB theme. Don't get me wrong, I think the BB theme is a very cool and unique idea, but the beautiful tropic feel is what I prefer. But since I've never been to BB, I can't compare the slides.

We have been trying to decide which one to go to this summer. From these posts, I am leaning to TL. Thanks!!!!!!

Good choice! I think that if you have a good time at Typhoon Lagoon, make Blizzard Beach your destination next time. They are both amazing, but I think TL is just a wee bit better.

I think w/ the addition of CnG that TL would get the edge for a first time visitor. Wish they'd added something like this to BB! :)

Well at least you made a decision ahead of time. I think it's good that you're going with TL. Since you're a first time visitor, I think it will have a bigger affect on you then BB would. And I agree with kgmadorin, on your next trip to WDW you should visit BB and try it out, so you can have the experience of both WDW water parks.

I loved the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon. Blizzard beach was fun, but for some reason when I was there I couldn't figure out where some of the slides were (I didn't try too hard, but still I was confused). So Typhoon Lagoon gets my vote. Someday I want to do the morning surf class there.
