Has anyone the Fantasmic Dining Package before? I'm wondering if it costs extra, and if the reserved seating is worth it?

Yes it costs extra and I personally think it is worth the extra expense. You and your family can arrive to the Fantasmic show at a reasonable time before it starts and you will have very good reserved seating. It feels like we are VIP when we walk to our seats! Otherwise, you will need to wait in a first-come, first-served line. I've heard the lines can be really long so it may take a big chunk out of your evening plans just waiting in line; and seats are not guaranteed which may be a problem during peak seasons. However, I've only ever seen Fantasmic while using the dining package seating. Someone else may chime in and say that the stand-by line is not a problem.
Its a great show so if you can make room in your budget for the dining package then treat your family!

I have seen Fantasmic both via the Dining Package and the regular stand by line. I will say that it is a very long line and very annoying waiting in that line to get in. We were lined up by the time the earlier show had let out and we were able to easily get a seat. My down side to the dining package is that it is only good at a couple of the restaurants at the park and it does limit your dining options. I honestly say it is not worth the price. You can get an excellent view of the show from pretty much anywhere in the theater.

I read in the Unofficial Guide that you could now order a la carte at Mama Melrose now with the Fantasmic Dining Package. If this is true...I might see about adding it to my ADR. I need to check and see if Fantasmic will be showing the night we're planning on being at DHS first.

I think it depends on when you're going and whether there are 2 showings of Fantasmic. We went to the second showing last February - moderately busy (President's Day week). We hardly waited in line and the theatre was only 2/3 full. We had amazing seats down front, too.

If there's only one showing or if you're going during peak season, I'd say yes. If there's a second show and you don't mind going to it, I don't think you need to spend the extra money.

I went to the second show two years ago when they were running it twice nightly in peak season. It was overfilled with lots of people standing in the back. With the currenty situation in Fantasmic, I would say it can have some pros to it. It really gets quite busy and if you don't have it, you need to line up early in advance.

Looks like there will be a Fantasmic! show the night we're planning on being there. Only one though...and it shouldn't be too terribly crowded. I just know it will be my honeymoon...and I am not going to want to wait around in lines the whole time.

I didn't think the package was more than the actual meal. We did it at Melrose and as long as we ordered entrees we were fine.

That's what I gathered from reading about it in the Unofficial Guide.

We've done the Fantasmic package, eating at Hollywood & Wine, which is a buffet. I'm pretty sure it was just the regular buffet price. A lot of people complain about the area that's set aside for the dinner package since it's all the way over to the right, but I actually prefer to sit over there. I like the view from that side and it's so much easier to exit down the path behind Beauty and the Beast. I would say do the package if there's only one Fantasmic during your stay. You'll have a nice meal and a reserved space. ;)
