Park Hopper or No?

Post by theBIGyowski » May Wed 12, 2010 3:09 pm

DF and I will be down in WDW in late August to early September. Right now I have us with Magic Your Way tickets with Park Hopper option added. The more I think about it...and the way our existing ADRs are...we don't need the Park Hopper option. The only day we could possibly hop would be our first one...as MK has EMH until midnight. We could leave Illuminations and head over to MK until it closed. The only downside to this is that it will be our first day/night in WDW and we'll want to be up bright and early to be at MK in the morning for rope drop.

So...I don't really see us hopping at all. I'm pretty sure we can add the hopper option if we feel like it at any point...right?

Dude! Always get the park hopper option! You're going to find that the best laid plans of Mouse and man often go astray, and you may want to change things up a bit due to unforeseen circumstances. Time after time we have found that we were glad we had that option.

I'm with M-dude...always go with park hopper!!! You never know when your plans will change. DH and I always get park hoppers and we've always used them too.

I would say if money is an issue, then go for the non-parkhopper option, but as with mousekedude and boilerbabe, I personally would not want to be without the choice to change parks. (My mom and I are especially notorious for deciding to go over to Epcot just to get free Coke, or something equally as silly. :D)

I would have to agree with all who say get the hopper. I can't imagine not having that freedom! Is it a big price difference?

I can't go without the hopper. Even if I don't use it everyday I like knowing it's there.

I honestly can't go without the park hopper option... especially with the EMH at night. For our trip, the way our dinners are designed, we should be in two parks on most nights. I think I have us going from EPCOT to MK and DHS to EPCOT. Also, for the days that you are in AK and DHS you might want to go hopping. If money is an issue and you feel content without the park hopper, then go for it. I do believe that you can add the park hopper up until at least final payment and most likely to 3 days out. I know the dining plan is 3 days out when you can add it.

I've never been but I know that if I do, I'm getting a park hopper. I have to experience everything as much as possible so it'd be necessary to get it.

The only reason to not get it is if money is a problem..and if you are going to WDW for 7 days--money sure isnt a problem :))
If you look at a 7 day trip, the cost is only $7 a day or so...
But for shorter trips you might feel like you are ahead of the game--especially if you have a large family.

I would get it...

Gotta agree with everyone else. If you can afford it, then DEFINITELY get the hopper. We hop every day on every trip. By visiting 2 parks every day, we feel like we've stretched our vacations.

In other words, some of our trips have only been for 3 days. But we went to the parks 6 times. Makes it feel like we went for 6 days!

I'll probably end up sticking with the Hopper. It's an extra $50 or so per ticket (2) so the money saved is nice...but with EMH and all...we might want to hop at least once or twice. I know I did not hop on my last trip, but that was probably because my dad was with us and he had an injured foot, which slowed us down a good bit.

$50 for each ticket spread out over the time you'll be there should be worth it...even if you only hop once it will be nice :D

We have only been a couple of times, but I agree with everyone here...the hopper is the best option. We always find ourselves starting out in one park but ending the day in another park.

M-dude said it all. I have never even considered not getting the park hopper option. Even if I didn't park hop every day it would still be worth the extra expense just knowing that I could if I wanted to.

Usually I would say definitely get the park hopper option! Its awesome! However, we are opting out of the park hopper for our next trip because we will be there with our 1 yr old son and I'm pretty sure park hopping will be out for us. Instead of park hopping we will probably make trips back to the room to rest for a bit.
If I didn't have the LO, then DEFINITELY hop, hop, hop away!! :hatter_bounce:
