Well, its official.

http://attractionsmagazine.com/blog/201 ... on-july-2/

Kneejerk reaction? I disapprove. I'd rather Disney use the talent of the Imagineers to come up with something new, or "plus" a beloved classic then just shoehorn something old in for nostalgia's sake. Also, won't this completely destroy the theme of the Imagination Pavilion, (Imagination Institute's Open House) and how will that be addressed.

Maybe they will actually bring back the old 4D special effects that didn't make it back into the DL version. I really don't see this being a positive move by Disney this late.

Now...what it could be is an excuse to revamp the whole area...and putting Captain EO back in creates a distraction while they work hard at re-imagineering the pavilion.

If anyone knows anyone who is important...tell them they need to completely overhaul the area with "Meet the Robinson's" and everything will be perfect! I believe that movie was in 3D when it came out in theaters originally...so they should have no trouble coming up with a 4D storyline using the characters.

I agree that maybe this is a good thing. Maybe Captain EO will just be for the Summer-End of the year then will be replaced by something totally new. I doubt they would go back to HISTA when Captain EO starts getting fewer crowds after the "newness" wears off. Although, I must admit I do want to see it one more time as I loved it as a kid. Kind of like going on Horizons again... but not really.

My initial reaction: I say bring it on...
I was there during Spring Break. Almost everywhere else in the park was packed except that area---it was a ghost town.
I'm all for anything that will bring people back over there.

it DOES mess with the whole "theme" over there, but it's only temporary isn't it?

That's just my $0.02

I like it. This is a HUGH improvement over Honey I Shrunk. As previously stated, we now have a draw to an area that has been dead. Even if it is an easy stopgap, it certainly beats what is there - and it certainly beats what they did at DHS by converting a good attraction to Sounds Dangerous.

I just wish this was ready for my late May trip.

I thought Epcot was supposed to about moving forward and looking into the future.

I think this is an indictment on the changes and "upgrades" that have done. It's saying "our renovations, updates and re-imagining over the past 15-20 years has been so bad we are going to re-hash an old attraction in hopes of renewing excitement about the park."

That should be the press release.

kcarts, it makes you a little nauseous doesn't it?

I'll just say it gives me gas. There's something about it that doesn't sit right with me.

That I wasn't a fan of the Captain his first time through doesn't help. However, if they brought back Horizons (which I loved and would welcome back with open arms) or World of Motion, my feelings about what that says about Epcot and the changes it has seen the last 15 years or so would be the same.

What a colossal waste of time and money to bring back Captain Eo to EPCOT!!! If you see it, it really was a poorly made 3D movie! It's incredibly bad compared to later 3D films as far as quality. Shame on Disney! :!:

NOOOOOO!
Say it ain't so !
What in God's name are they thinking ????
That freak is (was) a drug abuser, and a child molester (unproven).
Also the show wasn't worth a dern to start off with (my oppion).
What a bunch of crude!
I won't be gonna see it. Nor any of my family or co-workers or their families (fact).

I don't think so... AT ALL.

Really, if they're gonna get rid of HISTA, do something better. This wouldn't be happening if MJ was still alive and we all know it.

Annoying.

Mousekedude: that other thread is about Captain Eo returning Disneyland. While appalling as that was, the rest of us could take relief in knowing that such a disgusting thing was safe from EPCOT...until now. This thread is concerning that fact that now Captain Eo will unfortunately return to EPCOT. Now nowhere is safe from menace of Captain Eo.
