What have you not done ... and never plan to do?

Post by soldhamgm » Apr Wed 07, 2010 3:45 pm

In light of the topic "What have you not done?", I thought this might be a fun question and didn't want to change the subject. So here's a new one ...

Are there any attractions that you refuse to do? I can be pretty opinionated, so there are some attractions at Disney where I enjoy saying "I've never done that" as a goal of self-discipline and "standing my ground." I can't really explain it, but it's fun for me to do this. For example:

DHS: The Little Mermaid. As a male individual, I never connected with this story ... nothing even close to affection for this Disney princess. Therefore, I've never wanted to spend the time watching this show. I even know one of the guys who designed the puppets for the show - he's a good friend of my family's and went to college with my dad. But I've never seen it, and I don't plan on starting anytime soon.

MK: There are actually a few here, most notably in Tomorrowland with the Transit Authority and Speedway ... can't really see the appeal for either unless you're with small children who are adamant to ride and don't know any better ... or if you and your friends want to endure the line simply to log-jam the cars behind you.

And if there's a list of one-and-over-it attractions, the deceased Body Tours and Stitch would be at the top

Anyone else have these? I'd love to hear what you think.

Stitch's Escape and Tower of Terror!!! (and I don't plan on ever going on Expedition Everest)

Oddly enough, I have been on Rock ' Roller Coaster :? (I didn't ever plan on going, but I plead temporary insanity...er...temporary sanity? )

All of my answers could change when I have kids down the road.

I have never done Stitch and most likely never will.

I have not seen Little Mermaid and most likely won't unless I end up having a daughter who loves it...and that show is still around.

I presume that I will not do everything in the new Fantasyland expansion like Pixie Hollow. My DF is a HUGE Beauty and the Beast fan...so I'm sure we'll do all of that when the expansion is complete.

Oh yeah...never done the wuss version of Mission Space...and don't plan on it. I'm fine with the regular version...even if it makes me sick.

I'd say I am game for most any attraction and have never outright skipped any of them. I don't wait in line for pictures with characters, but I would if I had nieces or nephews with me who wanted their picture taken. And I really enjoy the TTA - why don't you guys want to ride that?

The drive down to WDW is enough driving for me. I do go on Test Track, but it goes faster.

Agree with Amy...

TTA is one of my favorite things in all of WDW. Why? I have no idea. I guess because it's relaxing and it takes you inside of Space Mountain. I might night like it once I ride the updated version. As of right now it is still one of my favorites and a MUST RIDE every trip.

I love the TTA (although it pains me it call it that). :( It so relaxing, wonderfully breezy on a hot day, and the view is great.

I've got a long list of things I've done once and have no intention of doing again (or even attractions I'm just not interested in anymore), but I tend to try everything once. I don't have much interest in ever seeing the American Idol thing, though. Meh.

Oh! I like the TTA, I don't like driving the cars!

Even though I am a big fan of American Idol and love to sing...I doubt I will ever see the AI Experience in DHS. It just seems like a dumb idea to me.

If they were really American Idols, we'd put them on totem poles!

I have never gone on mission space and probably never will as I get motion sickness. I've also never done stitch and it doesn't look like I ever will and I doubt i'll ever try AI.

I've never done the Frontierland Shooting Gallery. Don't plan to either.

I wish I could say I've never been to CBJ. Having seen it once, it's a never again for me.

American Idol Experience

I auditioned last year and am still bitter about it. I didn't get past the first audition, and not because I'm not a good singer. Oh no, the lady praised me for having a beautiful voice, gave me a great compliment by comparing me to a great Broadway singer (I wish I could remember who now ...), and said that I should be on Broadway/in musical theater. The reason I got rejected? She said because I don't sound like Christina Aguilerra. Don't know when Christina became the only judgment for a good singer.

I really don't think the Imagineers really thought out how guests would feel after being rejected. Sure, some are just doing it for fun and don't care much, but it really upset me when they didn't even let me past the first audition. I was bummed for the rest of the day. I would have much rather seen a karaoke attraction added, so that everyone can get in on the fun. I'm still upset I got rejected for a stupid reason and won't go to the attraction now because of it.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!
