I just learned that my next trip to WDW will be during the Star Wars weekends.

We will be going May 29 through June 5. Even though I am a big Star Wars fan, I have never been to WDW during one of these events. For you Star Wars veterans, what are the "don't miss" things to do/see during these events?
Here is the schedule (stolen from
www.themouseforless.com)

You should go in the chat and ask Matt (QuickGold) this question. He holds an annual SWW meet and greet every year.
Mostly it's confined to Disney Studios Park and they sometimes have stars and minor players from the movies attend the festivities.
Just don't expect to see Natalie Portman darn it hahha

Gosh, I have never been during Star Wars weekends, but from the pictures I've seen it looks like fun. It also looks c-r-o-w-d-e-d! Good luck!

I have a convention I MUST attend this June (14th - 17th) at the Swan and Dolphin. Since it is MANDATORY that I attend, I might as well make it pleasurable. We're staying at POFQ (1st time there) and we'll be attending SWW (1st time as well) June 10th - 14th. I know it will be crowded but we'll deal with it. Park hopper, no expiration and water park options will be used to the fullest!
Len90, it's only going ot be 3 trips this year .

We've been a few times. Just soak it all up! It's a lot of fun. One hint, rides Star Tours to get into the gift shop! Disney sells stuff during SWW that you can only buy then.

I have a feeling that this will be the most crowded place in the park the entire day! I'll encourage my DS to save his $$ and he can buy whatever.

Don't take this question the wrong way but is this nothing more than an upscale Star Trek Convention?

No, Star Trek fans put on rubber Klingon heads and/or squeeze themselves into unflattering jumpsuits. Star Wars fans wear plastic Stormtrooper armor and metal bikinis.
So it's completely different

One thing is some guests will not know about it until they get to the park, whereas every person going to a convention knows whats going on. Sure, a ton of people will be there just for SWW but think of all the people who will be pleasantly surprised when they get there.

I'm not a Trekkie or a War-sy (what do they call the Star Wars folks?) but this was too funny Future Guy!

This will be our second as we are there the first weekend. We grew up with StarWars, and this is a fun event. You have to decide what you want from it. We just soaked up the atmosphere, watched parades & special events, and rode a few ride. Star Tours will be crazy busy, and Tatooine Traders will be out the door packed. There are autograph sessions (we did none), special merchandise (we purchased none), and loads of character photo ops.
Get there early to see the storm trooper show before opening, and see the 11:00 SW parade. Then it is up to you for the remainder. The limited merchandise may cost you 2-3 hours in lines, same for autographs. Some people use 2 days for this event. Also see the HyperSpace Hoopla at the end - it is a blast.
