Considering WDW consolidated Dixie Landings into neighboring Port Orleans, I have always wondered why WDW has not consolidate the Beach into the Yacht Club and make both into a single resort?Len90 wrote:As I stated earlier (at least I think I did ) all the resorts have their own special thing to offer. However, I feel the Yacht and Beach are the best WDW resort.... I would still say the Yacht has the edge on the Beach though.momeja wrote:Yea, Jacca!!!! Good question mindflipper....it almost seemed this way on our trip in Dec. '09, at the YC gift shop they no longer carried merchandise that had anything YC on it. But, if you went over to the BC, they had merchandise with the BC logo etc....
Do you know why this is Len?!?! We had wanted something with the YC on it, but that wasn't possible. The CM didn't really seem to know why or didn't seem to care much either.

Okay, maybe it's just me, but reading these two posts one right after the other was a bit messy for my computer.Len90 wrote: As I stated earlier (at least I think I did ) all the resorts have their own special thing to offer.

Re: What is the Best WDW Resort?
I honestly have no idea why this is. The YC had their own merchandise when I was there in July 09. It was located right behind the boat with sailor Mickey. There were shirts, sweatshirts, and I believe shot glasses just to name some of the stuff. I will definitely look into this when we are there next month. I know that the two resorts are pretty much run as one. As of now, I think it is just cheaper to keep them as two separate resorts. It might be a possibility for the future, but it will definitely be a while for that IF it was to ever happen. Keep in mind the rooms in both resorts were just refurbed with the Yacht Club finishing its refurbishment just recently.boilerbabe wrote:Good question mindflipper....it almost seemed this way on our trip in Dec. Momeja: Hence the use of the quotes . I had to make sure I tried to separate my post from the one above it.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder if the room refurbs are part of an over-all plan? Dixie Landing went through a refurb before it was combined with Port Orleans so the two would be more identical. The exteriors are already very similar - just different paint schemes. If they start painting both the same colors, I would start to wonder...

Gee, now Len doesn't want to be next to me sigh...
I have to ask though, why would it be cheaper for them to be separate resorts, or one big resort for that matter?

They do have bathrooms in them. The tree house villas are almost like regular villas. I think they have 2 bedrooms and two bathrooms along with a full kitchen and livingroom

It would have to cost Disney money to merge the resorts and make them become one. There really wouldn't be many changes since from what I have gathered, they technically share some of the upper management.

Re: What is the Best WDW Resort?
Why do I love this thread so much?
Because there's no right answer and it's so great to hear (read??) everyone's opinion.
Plus: I love reading about all the resorts that I will probably never stay in.
A smile creeps on my face when I see a new posting in this forum...

Let me know what you find out Len!!! B/c behind sailor Mickey, they had a bunch of Christmas merchandise and no YC stuff. We were disappointed! And good point that they just refurbed the rooms.

Not to my knowledge. But, you do have resorts where there are more adults rather than children. i.e. The Yacht Club is a more quiet resort and seemed more adult like to us. I've been told that alot of families will stay at the Value Resorts.

The only thing I can think of are the bars/clubs at West end of DTD and on the Boardwalk. I think after a certain time (7 or 8pm) no one under 21 is allowed.adelyser wrote:Are there any area's at Disney either at the parks or resorts, that are adult only, like the cruises?
