Disney World Monorails to feature TRON Legacy Advertisements
Yeah, the WDW monorail system is now going to be used as a moving billboard for the upcoming movie TRON Legacy. The Monorails will be debuting on the EPCOT line shortly. I personally think this is a terrible move. Disney knows how much the Year of a Million Dreams wraps. Check out the pictures of the first monorail to feature this. No word given on what colors are getting wrapped.

Frankly, I just wish they would leave the monorails alone. It's not graffiti, but it does feel like they're "trashing" the monorails no differently.
However, I saw the trailer for the film in 3D before "Alice in Wonderland" - I was impressed. I thought the idea of a sequel to a critically panned movie was boneheaded, but it does look like its far better made than the original. Previews did show Bruce Boxleitner and Jeff Bridges (who starred in the first film).

Well, that explains why the cab of Monorail Coral was blue when I drove by earlier today...

Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

I grew up in Brooklyn and some of the graffiti was art. You say it like it's all a bad thing. The Met (The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art) actually had a graffiti exhibit.

So I guess that makes Coral one of the first to get the makeover. I really wonder how to differentiate the trains from one another now.MadEye wrote:Well, that explains why the cab of Monorail Coral was blue when I drove by earlier today...
Also, I assume that Monorail Teal will be unable to be seen this summer wearing it's proper stripe along with the twelfth monorail that should be coming out within the coming months. Still no news on that one, other than people speculating what color stripe it will be wearing.
As Mindflipper posted, STOP TRASHING THE MONORAILS! Disney is better than this and should not be going this low. Makes me feel like I would be riding an NJ Transit bus with a bus wrap.

It looks like it might just be for the EPCOT line but I guess we'll have to wait and see if they are expanded to the resort/MK lines.
I am torn, I don't like advertising on the monorail but they technically have been advertising for the past couple years on it anyway and compared to the previous ones these actually look nice. No confetti, or balloons, or Stitch scattered all over the place.
All the cars are in dire need of repainting anyway so at least they will look cleaner for a while. Check this picture out of what Madeye saw yesterday, you can see how bad they are looking - the white seems so faded/dirty in contrast to the new wrap.
