I'm getting so excited about the Main Street Electrical Parade coming back to the MK for the summer, I started thinking about the best place to view the parade. Has anyone viewed Spectromagic from the Main Street Train Station? How early do you have to get to the train station to get one of those rocking chairs along the railing?

We usually watch Spectro from Frontierland, that's our fav. spot. I would imagine you'd have to get to the trainstation pretty early for a seat!

Yes, I have done it from the train station overlooking Main Street! It's an extremely popular spots, especially those with higher-end camcorders and cameras! The spots along the railing tend to be taken 1-2+ hours before the parade! If you want one of those spots, get there early. One person can "guard" the spots while others go forth and do other things. But you get the view of the parade emerging onto Main Street, pass before you below, and around to up towards the castle. In most cases your view of the main strip of Main Street and the castles will be blocked by trees in the square.

That is a good summation of the viewing area. I have not ever used that since I really don't see it that rewarding. There are just too many obstacles and you can't get amazing pictures of the floats since they pass below you. However, there is the great "down main street" shot. I have found that anywhere on the straight part of Main Street is excellent for getting pictures of the floats. The closer you are to where they come out of the loop (IMO) the better.

If you take the far end of the train station balcony from the parade entrance you can capture a great shot of the parade emerging and coming down the street. My "down on the street" filming has always been marred by the fact of others viewing around me send their kids up to the front just as the parade starts. There's no room for them, and they jump up and down and scream loudly - not conducive if you plan to videotape. Videotaping from the street is very difficult. My best success has been from the main street station and from the other end of main street. If you can get the right spot on the circle from the other end of Main Street, you can capture the whole parade coming towards you up the street.
