Has anyone heard any more about if WDW is going to be building the villian park?

I've heard nothing. I can't imagine Disney would consider a 5th gate in Orlando at this point. The Fantasyland expansion/rehab won't be complete until 2013, and construction hasn't even started on the Shanghai park.

Disney themselves have said no more parks in the US for a long while.

That's what I read recently in the papers some time ago; Disney would work on expanding or revamping their current theme-parks, which the announced Fantasyland Expansion supported that article.

The villain park has been rumor for about the last 20 years. It's all it ever has been.

Here's an article about development on the property from the last ten years and looking ahead the next ten. It's basically just a look at a report put out by Reedy Creek. Looks like all they really have for concrete plans is Flamingo Crossings.

Disney says a lot of things that they don't stick by so that alone is not solid for killing rumors/hopes.

However, I will say that I can't imagine they have any desire to open a 5th gate anytime soon. As a consumer I'm down with that as I'd rather they just add content to their existing parks (i.e. Fantasyland expansion) than open a new gate that I'd have to shell out potentially another $70 to and take another day to go to.

Honestly this will never happen. I don't see there being any more parks built in WDW. They'll just rehab some and add, thats about it.

Frankly, comparing AK and DHS to the other parks, to me doesn't deliver the same value. I would rather see them add more to these parks first before adding a whole new park. And if they do add a whole new park, I can't see it being a park dedicaeted solely to villians. That would be glorifying "evil doers", which is contrary to the family-friendly Disney attitude. Also, its too narrow in scope. The villian idea would work as a section within a park, but not as a whole park.

They could add some big non-dark (open air) coasters and name them after villains. Disney could sprinkle them throughout the parks. I'd love to see a full size coaster on the order of Goofy's Barnstormer!

It's hard enough to keep up with what they have, plus seasonal changes. Doubtful a large project like this would get off the ground.

With a lot of the money for the parks going mostly to DCA with the new Cars land, the Magic Kingdom Fantasyland expansion and the construction of the new Shanghai Resort in the not too distant future, I would venture to guess that if WDW was to get a new park it would be in the next 10 - 20 years. I just don't see the need for another park at WDW and with the current TDO (Team Diney Orlando) personnel being as cheap as they are (the Fantasyland expansion was approved in Burbank without their blessing, or so I have heard...) I would be very surprised.

That would be a cool park to go to. But, I'd rather see them work on what they have first. I have heard about this for year but never heard them really talk about it themselves.

I think they need to try to keep what they have going... DHS doesnt do much for us and could use a few items.

That would be great. They need to add more villain themed rides and/or shops. Even the "villain store" at Disney Studios isn't really villain themed. They could make a great dark ride out of this.
