Best Park/Place to be at for New Years Eve?

Hey everyone!
I'm going to be at Disney World this Christmas/New Years Holiday with my wife and was wondering which park/place is the best one to go to for New Years Eve? I know that the term "best" is very relative, but I wanted to get other people's feel for it. I've been to Disney more times than I can remember but never during the holiday season so this will be a sort of new experience for me and my wife. We've always tended to go to Disney during the spring/summer due to scheduling and work.

How exciting! You said Christmas time...so I voted for the Magic Kingdom. All parks are decorated but you don't get the same feel as you do in MK. With the castle lit up, it's breath taking! And Christmas Wishes is a must! We LOVE Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party as well. Unfortunately, I've never been there for New Year's Eve though. What are the dates you will be there??

We actually won't get there until the day after Christmas (spending Christmas with family in Miami) and we'll be there until January 2. So I'm hoping to have an awesome New Years Eve at Disney World!!!

I haven't been to Disney for New Years, but I would say that the Magic Kingdom or EPCOT would be great. I voted for the Magic Kingdom.

Although I have not been there for New Year's, I have been to the parks for other holidays like 4th of July. From seeing all the celebrations that are in DHS, EPCOT, and MK for the 4th of July within the past two July 4th's, the MK wins hands down. There is nothing more special and amazing than seeing fireworks surrounding the entire park and getting a beautiful picture of them over tomorrowland. I find that being in the Magic Kingdom for just about any holiday is pretty much the perfect way to celebrate.

Sorry I have to disagree. New Years is a drinking holiday and that has to be at EPCOT!

You are 100% correct about that. The Armageddon barge is just insane. I don't think I ever heard anything that loud in my life. It makes for a great ending and an amazing show, but I still think MK wins out.

I think if I were in Disney for NYE, I would avoid the parks. I am not a crowd person. Form what I hear, if you don't like being bumped into every five seconds, you wont like being in the parks. I would find a nice lounge in one of the hotels to enjoy a few. Probably somewhere on the Boardwalk. And then if wanted to see the "Armageddon Barge", sneak in the International Gateway for a peek at that.

Sounds like EPCOT maybe the place to be for NYE. I am a huge fireworks display fan, and the "armaggedon barge" sounds like a pretty awesome ticket. Plus, beers around the world (+ champagne or something similar at midnight) sounds even better! Still thinking about which park is best by EPCOT seems to be generating alot of momentum.

I was there for NYE 8 years ago...the first NYE after 9/11. You would think the crowds wouldn't have been quite as heavy...but the parks closed the doors at 11:00 AM because they had reached capacity. I wanted to be in EPCOT for the midnight celebration...but we ended up stuck in DHS because of capacity issues. It was still awesome...but probably not as cool as EPCOT would have been. Also...I was only 20 years old at the time...so beer was out anyway.

I would honestly check to see if there are any parks that are doing a test performance the night before. I know for July 4th, the MK will make it a two day thing by having a practice show the night before. This allows you to be able to see the amazing show at EPCOT and the equally amazing show at MK on separate nights. I would have to say that as far as sound goes, EPCOT will win hands down. The ending to the performance is literally a sonic boom. As for MK, the noise will come from all around the park which creates a great effect. In the end, it comes down to what park the dinner reservation is in. You will have to get to that park early and stay there since capacity will be hit in most by early afternoon.
