Is the Yeti ever working????

I've been to WDW three times since the opening of Expedition Everest and we've gone on it numerous times within those trips.
However, everytime we go on it, the Yeti is NOT working!
He's always frozen into position with strobe lights behind him.
We've gone during April, July, and October so you can see we've been going on an off peak season yet he has never worked!
Has anyone seen this beast in action or has this been a problem for a lot of people?

Hmmm.....the times we've rode Everest the Yeti was working. However the last time we rode was in Nov. '08. We didn't make it to AK on our last trip. I sure hope he's working in Dec. I'm surprised Disney would let such a large animatronic creature not work.

Something like that is usually considered a "E" stop ride element. It's sad how Disney's quality has suffered in the last years. It's still a residual Eisner effect, "Profit is King and quality is NOT!"

I think they had the strobes going on the 19th. I have seen it work before, to be honest there's not a whole lot of difference to me you go by so fast. He looked like he was moving a little bit and I wouldn't have even thought he wasn't working until I saw this post and didn't recall seeing the big dramatic swing he does. You go by so fast though it's hard to get the effect anyway.
What I found to be a monumental disappointment in a figure not working actually took place not too far from EE. While watching ITTBAB; the Hopper figure did not even rise from the stump! They just shot out some fog and flashed some lights then Flik talked to the right side of the screen...
Little Red also lay still on our morning Safari as we passed too. What's the deal DAK?

I have to agree with the previous poster, I go by so fast that I can hardly notice if the yeti is working or not! However I have to say that if you ever get the chance you should totally go at night makes a HUGE difference and way scarier!! I really had a blast riding it back to back to back at night early this month and the Yeti freaked me out each time!!

Yeti's back has been broken for over a year now. Something I remember from those Modern Marvel specials about WDW is that there is no way to take the Yeti out if something goes wrong... which it has.

Are you sure? It sounds like what MadEye suggests is that it hasn't worked since atleast November of last year? It still moves its head but it's supposed to entirely lunge at you (the whole body swings down at the car).

Every time I go it's always working. I went back this year and it was working fine.

It has worked every time I've been there. The last time I was there was Nov. 2007, but prior to that I went every year and it seemed fine.

Hmmm... I dont understand it!
I actually asked an imagineer about this who worked on Everest a year ago and she said they have nothing to do with maintaining the AA but she was shocked to hear the Yeti was having problems!

Here's some info:

The movement of the Yeti towards the train causes forces the equivalent of a jet thrust, or something similar. Apparently either the foundation is cracked, or it will be soon. Why this wasn't addressed during construction, I'm not sure, but that's the reason. I've heard that they programmed a bit of a compromise between A Mode and B Mode, but haven't seen it.

I'm sorry, but that is inexcusable in my opinion. While I still love to visit WDW, the standards have slipped so far in the last 10-15 years. It's truly sad.

It's the EISNER effect!!!! Disney has gotten to the "give them as little as possible mentality".
